Hoping someone can help
I have been asked how people insure their personal items in and outside the home
They have been advised there is no personal cover in North Cyprus by their insurance company. There is building and contents by the owner but they do not cover our personal valuables i.e. watches computer etc

Hi there,
We are Esta Insurance, an Independent Insurance company based here in North Cyprus and we are able to offer insurance from multiple companies here on the Island.
Unfortunately it is very difficult to offer cover for these personal items on Insurance cover here. Computers and Laptops can be covered while inside the property as long as they are included on the policy details.
There are options such as safety deposit boxes available from some banks if you want to keep valuables safely but again not ideal.
We are constantly striving to improve our product range and we are always looking for better products to offer customers.
If you have any questions you can call us on 0392 444 3782 or email us on
info@estainsurance.com. You can also find us in Karaoglanoglu neaxt door to Dizayn 74 pottery shop or at our Alsancak branch opposite Lokmans Fish and Chip shop.
Best Regards,
The Esta Team.

We have insurance with Zurich. We have specified items insured while out of the house but they cannot be valued more than a certain percentage of the contents cover sorry I do not know what the percentage is but if you want to PM your details I could make enquries for you.

tomsteel,
If you look at Esta's profile, you will see that they have only been online 4 or 5 times in the last month.
What makes you think that they are actually logged-on and looking at the Forum now? - They probably have WORK to do, instead of sitting looking at this...
If Leither has a question to ask them about his own, individual Policy, or if you are so keen to know the answer, why don't one of you use the 'email' facility to contact them? - Or even, pick up the 'phone, and speak to them in person - you will find that it is a much more effective method of communication
In fact, now I come to think of it, how do you know that he hasn't already done so, and received an answer?
Best regards,
Keith Caley.

Keighcaley, I personally do not give a flying fig. However, as a company advertising on here it should pay heed to queries on its product. I also do not see it as my responsibility to check on the frequency of posters, albeit I note you
are regularly onsite.
Regards
Tom Steel

Come on Guys, calm down. When push comes to shove I think we can all agree that NONE of the Insurance Companies covers personal possessions as we would expect in UK. I made a conscious decision two years ago to get any decent jewellery and valuable possessions out of this country and/or give it to members of my family who would benefit when I fall off my perch. Gold has no real value here, just weight, the same with platinum. They certainly don't have any appreciation of antique furniture, silver or any other pieces we might consider to be valuable, Otherwise you can wear the stuff every day and hope that no-one pulls you to one side and chops your fingers and ears off!!

Leither - as I has assumed/expected. Side-line interference!!!

tomsteel, as Leither has chosen to post on a thread which was started with a simple query by snd1966, now adequately answered, & you have chosen further, to comment on it, I fail to see your justification in labelling other people's input as 'sideline interference'.
I was sufficiently interested in the original question posed by snd1966 to actually ring Esta Group, and ask them the question myself.
They verbally confirmed the question posed by snd1966, as to the veracity of the statement "they do not cover our personal valuables i.e. watches computer etc", and said that they would answer the post themselves, which they did do - clearly and unequivocally. In doing so, I personally believe that they have already supplied the answer to Leither's subsequent question, but if he is unsure about this, I still think that his best course of action is to contact them directly, as only he and they will know whether he has done as advised, and specifically listed any valuable items, or taken the requisite precautions regarding safeguarding said items.
By all means, carry on posting your questions on here, but if Esta are not logged-on to the Forum, or do not see the question - having already answered the particular query which started the thread - then you won't get an answer
Esta's office number is 0392 444 3782, mobile 0533 833 0841, and it is now 19:15 on Friday - I would suggest that if you want a definitive answer quickly, one of you rings them...
Just trying to be helpful, you understand

What post from Esta 'clearly and unequivocally' answers Leither's query on this thread. By way of information, I am a Esta customer and am very satisfied with their product.
I appreciate your endeavour to be helpful.

tomsteel,
Post 2: -
I didn't say that they had answered Leither's question 'Clearly and unequivocally', I said that they had answered the original post in that manner, but, that in so doing, they had provided the answer to the question that Leither subsequently asked -
"Computers and Laptops can be covered while inside the property as long as they are included on the policy details."
...Because Leither, having a copy of the Policy, knows whether or not they are "included on the Policy details".
I wouldn't expect Insurance companies here, or their underwriters to be much different from ones elsewhere, in that they will (we hope!) provide precisely the cover stated in the Policy, and nothing more.
Obviously, I hope that Leither is actually covered, but at least he now has a 'heads up' if he isn't.
I must confess to being as dilatory as anyone else when it comes to reading fine print, but it's got me thinking now - I'd better go and find that magnifying glass...
Have a good weekend!

I must admit this post has given me lots to think about and lots have pm'ed me. Thank you. I think in the long run if I was an insurance company I wouldn't want to insure personal items with the less honest people in the world. it has reminded me of a colleague years ago who had not paid for a holiday in 10 years as his gold chain always got lost on some beach and being claimed on holiday insurance it did not seem to be picked up. My friends are now working out how they can get it insured in the UK as they don't actually live here.
