Genghis- Update

Posted: Sun 07 Jun 2015 8:17 pm
by genghis
The weekend has passed and unfortunately G has not reappeared so I don't think he has just 'wandered off'.
The most likely and upsetting reason is that he has been taken. I have informed the relevant authorities and posters have been distributed.
Information is now sought from anyone who saw him being lured into a vehicle or knows where he is being held or has been offered G as a pet or for stud.
Let's hope my fears are groundless and my friend returns soon.

Yet again, another good reason for micro chipping your pets.

Who says G isn't microchipped!!!!!
I don't want this distressing situation to descend into another Expat slanging match.

Missing Dog Update

No response unfortunately.
There have been 2 ads in Kibris Today as well as posters so I think G's demise is well known. I am offering a £200 reward.
I hope some hunter has him locked away for breeding and will eventually put him back on the street - so keep your eyes peeled please.

So sorry he hasn't been found I would be distraught if my boy went missing. Maybe someone took him to breed from and will take good care of him. I will continue to keep my eyes peeled.

Missing Dog - Update

No good news about my friend I'm afraid.
I've been advertising in the local Cypriot paper as that seemed likely to reach the right readership. There's another ad in tomorrow's paper offering a £300 reward.
I know that G's demise has been put on Facebook by a wellwisher and I think his plight is well known at least around Lapta. However, I would ask you all to remain on the lookout. You might see or hear some clue as to his whereabouts. You might even be offered a good looking Spaniel.
Thanks, Richard - 0533 821 5668

So sorry to read that you have no news of your beloved dog - not knowing is in my opinion the worst scenario but miracles do happen & I really do hope that he turns up safe & well.
There are so many unloved unwanted dogs here it makes it all the more poignant when someone's treasured pet disappears.

Hope it turns up, but looking at his pic, perhaps a collar and name ,phone number on a disc would help to reunite him home .

Missing Dog - No News

If he's ALIVE, HE'S OUT THERE SOMEWHERE!
Are you looking after a stray Springer?
Have you been offered a pedigree Springer?
Have you been offered Springer pups?

Any news very welcome.

Just an idea, have you contacted the Hunting Federation?

I am not passing judgement on your reasons for not having him neutered by any means, but an entire dog will travel miles if he gets the smell of a bitch on heat, even break through a window to get to her, so put posters over a pretty wide area. It is well worth having any pedigree dog neutered (who will not be in the show ring) to deter thieves and to prevent amorous wanderlust.

The last poster was 100 % right!
Our ''Joe Cocker'', a champion sired working strain Cocker Spaniel was intact until we decided to move our ''Family'' here.
Through fear of Joe being stolen, we made the decision to have the deed done on him before we came!
BBB still feels guilty but on hindsight we think we made the right decision.
The looks and interest that has been shown when we are out with him has proven us right!
We sincerely hope your beautiful dog makes its way back home to you.

Sitrep:
A local man stopped me and said he thought he had seen G in Pathos - after a year! He asked for a photo and money was discussed to pay the current keeper - so it sounded kosher!
Two days later and he's here.
It's question of 'No questions, No lies' and 'Fun in the Sun'!!!
Anyway it's good to have him back.
He's just had a shower so he's a bit less anti social.
He looks in good condition. His coat is untangled and no fleas. His tail was docked but the feathers have now been cut off so he probably was used to hunt in undergrowth.
He's thinner than I remember and a bit timid so I think he's been living under a strict regime.
No trouble with his replacement but a bit of jealousy.
There will be two heads hanging out of the Maggie now and not much room on the bed tonight!!!!!

Sitrep 2
A lot more alert and lively today.
Very busy on our walks - nose and tail going all the time. He definitely remembers his name, drops on command and runs in to heel.
He's got the trots which might be my fault for over feeding or just the change in diet. Food!!!! He also has a limp although not so noticeable today. Vets tomorrow for full check up.
It looks as though he is well. I did wonder why the last keeper gave him up after a year apart from money and whether G had a health problem. Time will tell but he's happy now.
Thanks for all your kind thoughts.
Lock up all your chickens!! G's back in town!!!

Very sad to report that Genghis didn't recover from surgery today.
On his return he was found to be quite lame in a rear leg. This was diagnosed as a cruciate ligament problem and surgery was necessary. It was quite an old untreated problem which had resulted in considerable muscle and tissue loss.
Unfortunately he didn't come around after surgery despite the best efforts of the staff.
Having just been reunited after nearly a year apart, this second loss after a bare month was totally unexpected and cruel.

I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your wonderful boy and as you say a second loss in such a short time of being reunited is devastating. Small comfort in that he was reunited but you now know where he is.
RIP Genghis.
