KAR sends news of the latest support for them - namely the new SAH Supermarket.

As KAR says " SAH Supermarket in Catalkoy supports KAR

KAR are very pleased to announce that Sah Supermarket is supporting our efforts to feed and care for the street animals by giving their daily food leftovers from their restaurant and butchery departments.
It has also been agreed that KAR has become partners with Sah in a re-usable shopping bag project.

This project will help to raise funds for the street animals as well as support the protection of the environment.
A newly designed KAR donation box has been placed in the store for shoppers to place any spare coins.
A big thank you to SAH Supermarket from all the dogs and cats in our care.

Please give this Supermarket your support.

"protection of the environment" What by encouraging the increasing numbers of street animals who have been reported in recent times of attacking people. Surely the way forward is to eradicate the animals that are on the streets in a humane way. As is being pressed in the UK currently surplus foods should be given to the poor first who in this Country are increasing due to inflation.

If anyone wants to start a 'movement' or organisation whose purpose is to distribute surplus foods for the relief of the poor, then I am sure that they will get plenty of support - including mine.

However, that should not detract from the sterling work being done by those whose prime interest is the relief of suffering amongst animals.

The two issues are not mutually exclusive, and I applaud the collaboration between KAR and Şah.

If you come up with a 'plan' - then make it known on here, but please don't knock the efforts of others in different fields...

Keith, I learned long ago that on these Forums, you can't do right for doing wrong with some people. Mass eradication (makes it sound like a stain on a skirt) is not an option here, so why do people bang on about it. It will not happen.

#Virtually all charities need support more than criticism, and I think this is yet another good step forward to help animals and the environment. Do not forget that the Government has the first call on everything here, so maybe if anyone has really good ideas for the way forward they could share them with Akinci's office.

But I would add that what many people do not know is that Children in Need have a 'Food Bank' which helps pay for and distribute food to those in need, and this is with the blessing of the Government.

There is a lot going on by many charities here which is silent and efficient work to help those who need it most. Maybe it would be good if more information could be posted here to make people aware of just how much good and caring DOES happen here.

Can I make something clear, once and for all. The food that KAR is receiving is the "slops" scraped from plates. Sometimes soup is sent up as is some bread. However the bread is just short of going "off" Nothing, other than the bread, is wrapped and donated off the shelves. This country is not so poor that they have Slops doled out to them. KAR is not taking food from childrens mouths and I applaud the work carried out by Children in Need and the food bank. I might add that we also take the 'left overs" from some hotels. Is anyone suggesting that KAR should refuse to take these offerings?
