Yes you can own a car and the registry place is behind the old CT office in Nicosia, it's just before you get to the immigration office on the right, jusy before the bend in the road.

The girls in the driving school - first on the left as you turn into the Police Station road - will do this for you for a small fee. They''re very efficient and will find out the transfer fee for you. Take the transfer form and registration document and passport with you and they will save you the hassle of the Lefkosa trip.

Eleanour, yes! However, 'residency' has not been issued to expats for a number of years. When you apply for permission to stay after your 90 day visa, you'll get an immigration visa in your passport with "foreigner" penned on it. Pedantic, maybe. However, knowing what to expect may avoid confusion/disappointment. If you are using the ladies in the driving school opposite Baris Park, Girne they will charge a supplement to cover their costs. Also ask them what documents you require, costs of stamps, their charge etc and how long will it take? İyi şanslar.
