I have complained so many times about this machine! HSBC Manager does not care. You can get your card back earlier if you pay 60TL(Grrrrrrrr). As I have pointed out to the Manager if the machine can gobble cards up without a problem, there is nothing to say that it will not spit the card out when you are not there.
What is going to happen when HSBC in Girne close ........a trip to Nicosia to get your card back?????

There is a machine in the car park at Girne Lemar that pays Sterling (right hand side of two machines), and a Currency Exchange across the road from the machine.

The ATM by Lemar only pays out in £20.00 notes so if you need lots of cash be prepared to take a trolley with you. Normally has sterling in it and is easy to use. If that one empty then the bank almost next door to where Mr Pound used to be also gives out sterling (if you have any) but best used early in the morning (07:30 ish) so you can park there.

I never use the Supreme machine. I posted on here some months ago about a problem I had when the machine malfunctioned and did not pay out £1,000 I had asked for but when I checked my account it showed as a withdrawal and had gone. I got in touch with my manager at HSBC Girne and after a few days it was eventually sorted and my money was back in the account. That machine is a nightmare, and they do know about it but nothing seems to be done. I always now travel to the branch, so if there is a problem I can just go inside. I had a few sleepless nights worrying about the missing £1,000. I wouldn't use HSBC at all but it is linked to my UK one where pensions are paid.

I put a warning about that machine twice in the past. Someone else posted that the machines dont actually belong to the bank its a sort of franchise. Luckily I got my card back the same day after a lot of shouting.

Our friend had their card swallowed at the Supreme ATM.
They called into HSBC Girne on Friday, told come back on Monday,
as ATM is only checked on a Thursday, any cards swallowed
then go to Lefkosia, then returned to Girne branch for collection.
This they did, when at HSBC, they were told that
there was a 50Tl charge, presumably to buy their card back.
They did not have time to wait,
as there were over 30 other people also waiting for their swallowed cards.
At the moment the 50Tl charge cannot be confirmed.

A dark thought...

If the Company that own the machine get the 50TL, then there's no incentive for 'em to fix it, is there?

I hope that I'm wrong!

If that is the case then we should vote with our feet and not use it. Unfortunately, for me (in Esentepe) it is the nearest ATM where I can withdraw from my HSBC account, though I guess I won't have that for much longer...

You're quite right - IF there is a 50TL charge being levied and assuming that the card is actually the customer's property, and not the Bank's

We don't know for sure about the 50TL as yet, and I haven't got an HSBC card, so I can't answer the second imponderable either...

However, people could try demanding 50TL from the Bank as recompense for the inconvenience caused by their faulty machine!

I wouldn't hold my breath though!

I think you will find the card is the property of the bank.on some cards it does state that, but if not it will be in the dreaded terms and conditions.
In relation to the ball in someone's garden, the person who owns the garden doesn't have to give the ball back, but they cannot keep it either.

The 50Tl charge has not yet been confirmed.
But due to the fact that there are so many problems
with this particular ATM, I will no longer use it for sterling.
Have any others had their card swollowed by this ATM?

Supreme cashiers have been warning customers not to use it.

When we went to the bank to complain, we were told we had to wait 8 days before it would be back at the bank. If we wanted a
'' special delivery'' we could pay 61 tl. !!!! We stated that this was all a scam. I asked if they were going to pay me for keeping my card for 8 days. I was just smiled at and they said '' it does not work like that''. We received a phone call on Tuesday to say my card was at the Bank, I picked it up next day NO CHARGE, then again dont think I would have paid anyway. May use the other ATM machine from now on.

Maybe someone could print a warning notice and glue it on. A couple were going frantic as they were heading home the next day and it was a uk card it has taken.
