Do you think the price of cars will be the same as the South if a solution to the Cyprus problem is found shortly?

I wouldn't hold my breath...

There would be bound to be a period of 'readjustment' currency and price-wise - possibly 2 or 3 years, or even more, so I wouldn't really let it influence me at this stage

I find the car prices here quite absurd. Second hand vehicles are extremely expensive in my view - definitely much cheaper in the south. Having bought a new vehicle here about 18 months ago (European, not Japanese), it was actually cheaper than if bought in the south and virtually the same price as available in UK. How this works, I have no idea!

I am really interested in how you bought a new vehicle here in the North, at a lower price than the South, and at virtually the same price as the UK? Could you tell me please, what was the vehicle, where did you buy it and what did it cost?

Me too - I'm looking to upgrade to a more rugged car next year and would like to buy something really quite ugly but practical for someone traversing the island looking at nature...

In answer to PapaBravo and others, it was a new Mercedes bought at Kombos. Substantial discount for cash.

Yes sometimes these garages are stuck with a brand new but now obsolete models in their showroom and will offer a huge discount to get rid, close to UK price of same model when new in same year. I was recently offered same by Canger BMW for a model last produced in 2013 as obviously they need the showroom space. Eventually it will sell at a price, but will still be a 2013 model at best (could even be older) first registered in 2015 or might be 2016, and still it will be worth less as soon as you drive it out of the showroom. If it seems to good to be true, then it probably is! But if a settlement, the prices will crash down anyway, as way cheaper to buy current models in the South new and secondhand. Maybe looking for an old cheap runaround meanwhile, anyone got one?
