Lapta Water Supply

Can anyone confirm if the mains water supply has been rationed from yesterday evening onwards?

Had one of those new SMART water meters fitted last week. Bought a lot of credit. 3 tons has gone through the meter without problem and then water stopped coming through yesterday evening.

I am not sure at this stage if there is a meter problem or if it is normal water rationing.

I guess I will have to pay another visit to Belydere tomorrow!!!!!!!

Over in Esentepe recently the water has been on and off, sometimes off for 2-3 days or so. Nothing to do with the meter or any credit on it they just switch it off from time to time and I guess until the Turkish pipeline and all the infrastructure is in place to pump it around the island we will always be in the same position.

Yes,

I am used to water rationing and that is why I haven't run straight round to the Belydere today.

If anyone out there has a house in the Lapta area and knows of any water rationing since yesterday evening please let me know.

We are in Lapta and our water has been on and off for a few weeks now. We have had no mains water since Friday evening. Just like last year!

I managed to find a 'local'. Didn't speak much English and I don't speak much Turkish but reading between the lines I got the impression that the water supply had been switched off by the Belydere.

The gentleman concerned had a look at my water meter and thought everythng looked ok. When he pressed the black button the no of tons of credit left showed on the display.

It is frustrating enough not knowing when the mains water supply is going to be available. With the new water meters there is now an extra frustration. Is the water supply or is it the meter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your meter is showing credit then it's more than likely the Belediye are turning off the mains supply and not a fault with your meter.

The only other possibility I can think of is if the small plastic filter that's fitted to the inlet side of the new meter is blocked.

It's unlikely to be the latter due to the meter being so new, but after a time the filter can become blocked with an accumulation of sediment which is often present in the water supply and thus can eventually prevent water from passing through the meter. I had this happen a couple of times with the old meters and removed the filter myself in the end.

Luckily I happened to be present when they came to fit the new meter so I got the guy to remove the filter b4 he fitted it due to the new meters having a tamper proof clip to prevent meter removal after installation.

Our water supply in Karsiyaka has been rationed for the past few weeks now. We get water every 2-3 days. This appears to be the same as in previous years.

we are in Lapta and have had no water for several days in fact more than that about a week!!, we are on the last few dregs of our tank and its very annoying that we have 3 ton waiting to come through (which we have paid for and its on our card showing on meter) its all fair and well water rationing, but when you pay for water it should be available straight away. so basically we are going to have to pay for a water tanker to deliver water so we can go about our day to day business which tbh is a farce. in my opinion and it may not be the opinion of everyone, but when you pay for water on th top up system that water should be available almost straight away, we paid for this water almost a week ago now and got nothing to show for it apart from the credit amount on the meter. as usual the belediyesi don't seem to want to speak english to explain anything or maybe they are like us folk and have no idea themselves grrr sorry guys rant over

All be a distant memory WHEN the water arrives from Turkey. Won't it?

I don't know why you would say that - the water will not be given away free, and all of the Belediye's are fitting new digital water meters, presumably in anticipation...

In Alsancak at the moment water starts off at 0.5 TL per ton, (the price increases almost exponentially with increased consumption) and I understand that the flat rate which has been suggested for 'Turkish' water (and probably the rest of it, also) will be in the region of 3TL per ton.

Who suggested that it would be free it isn't now so why when water comes from Turkey why would it be free? what I was implying was that water shortage will be a thing of the past. Won't it? with water from Turkey.

Let's just say that "All will be a distant memory..." was somewhat vague and ambiguous...

Rather difficult to know which "All" you were referring to - I thought that you meant water meters

hank you for clarifying!
