In the Girne branch today. Business as usual until HSBC Turkey is sold.
When it is sold the new owner will decide which branches to keep or close both in Turkey and here (TRNC).
Ignore rumours and speculation as nobody knows for certain.
As a matter of interest several Turkish banks who have branches here are part owned by European banks.

If you are worried and have internet banking withdraw your money while in the uk better safe than sorry. a friend of mine had money in Continental bank when it closed down it wasnt a lot thank goodness but she has tried unsuccessfully to get it back.

If I am not mistaken Continental Bank was Cypriot. HSBC is a global bank if they do not pay out it means that the world financial economy has collapsed & we will have to resort to bartering.

we have been told by hsbc that we can stay with the people who take it over or transfer our funds to another bank free of charge

I decided not to wait and see who buys them out as I do not want to bank with any of the 3 banks that are bidding for the Turkish retail arm of HSBC plus I am tired of getting the lowest interest rate by quite a lot on my deposit accounts just to stay with the HSBC brand, changed banks today and got nearly 4% higher interest on zero risk deposit accounts.
I was treat like a lepper when I went in to HSBC, I had an appointment with my relaitionship manager who was aware of the reason why I was going in and who had given good service all the years I have been with them until today, when I arrived she told me that I had to deal with the cashier (so much for the premier relationship manager service).
