could anyone tell me if a uk phone is the same plug in wall fitting in trnc

No, but there's nothing to stop you fitting a standard BT 'Master' socket, as I did, and a lot of friends did also...

If it's a 3 pin plug, yes it will work in TRNC.
If it's a 2 pin plug, you can use an adapter.

2 wires on the TRNC system, connect either way round to terminals 2 and 5.

As 'Repent at Leisure' says, it's easy.

What is not so easy is actually getting a line!

I know people who are still waiting, several years after applying.

In the short term at least, you would do well to resign yourself to relying on mobile 'phones, Skype / other I.P. telephony, email and facebook / other messaging services for comunication, rather than a landline unless you're very lucky!

...and there's always 'snail mail'...

I was under the impression that we needed a landline to get internet as it was in turkey, if we don't need it then great but what other systems have you out their

A wireless connection is the most popular method - there are various base stations dotted about, but coverage doesn't extend to the more remote areas.

In any event, landline based broadband is only available within a relatively short distance from a suitably equipped exchange, and not all of them are - beyond that, and you would be reduced to a dial-up modem (if, and when, you ever managed to get a landline).

I am told that a lot of the telecoms infrastructure dates back to British Colonial days, and is not renowned for its reliability, and that's without the propensity of JCB drivers et al for uprooting telegraph poles!

There's always 3G via mobile phone or mobile modem/dongle of course. I'm fairly sure that 3G coverage extends to wherever there is a 'phone signal, but no doubt someone will be along to correct me, if I'm wrong...
