Big thanks to Turkish Cypriot neighbour

He said he had a surprise for us and turned up last evening with our final Kocan, with the house and swimming pool included. So dealings with the Tapu now finished, at last. He has chased this for us. both in Lefkosa and more recently in Girne. Luckily he has relatives everywhere, in all govt. departments but it was still like getting blood from a stone - the attitude has always been that they are doing you a favour if they do anything to progress the situation, when it is in fact their job. My neighbour works quite high up in the Central Bank in Lefkosa but was still met with fierce resistance at Girne Tapu when trying to help us. Still, all done now.

This is a funny place though, where else would someone hand over an official govt document to anyone other than those it directly concerns? You have to laugh sometimes, don't you.

Lucky you, congrats! Our pool builder seems to have "mislaid" our stamped plan so until we get it we cant apply for the final kocan. I can get a copy from the architect, but of course, it is not validated! We have the green file with everything else in it, all ready to start the next long drawn out process, and then realised no pool info in it at all - never been passed to the person (builder?) who had the file. where do we go from here (rhetorical q!)

Hope you find your documentation, it's hard enough when all the right boxes are ticked! I must say a word of praise to our builder Osman Arikhan, who gained our final approval before he actually finished the build, which helped enormously. Although we didn't appreciate the importance at the time, so good on him.
