Does anyone know, for a fact, (not just rumour) if it's possible to have a car registered in your name here if you are only on a 90 day visit visa. Not a Cypriot and not here on residency or work permit. If it is possible can you advise the procedure.

Thanks

Hi I have had a car for 6 years and I only visit for 3 to 4 weeks at a time , so yes. We had the garage do all the paperwork. Infact tigra sorted out the insurance mot ect as well. BUT remember and put it in a will in the TRNC if not it could take years to sort out if you don't and you pass.

My neighbour has a TRNC registered car and visits twice a year for less than 90 days per visit. If married, make sure both names are registered in the original log book (kocan) application. This will minimise problems should either die. One further piece of advice is to photocopy the log book and keep that in the car with the original at home. This way if the vehicle is stolen you will not have to pay again for a replacement log book.
