Text just received from KIBTEK

I'm working on the theory that everyone with an electricity meter in their name has received the same text? Are there some householders who already work on this system and if so, what problems you have encountered? (Am working on the assumption there have been problems)

I wondered where this months bill was - do you think this saving in time & personnel will offset the imminent increase in electricity prices ?

I think everyone who has a mobile got the text. I rent my apartment and the meter is in the owner's name and I still got the text.

I suppose it doesn't matter if you pay the owners bill just put the owners name on the text they don't care as long as the bill is paid. Where is the identification number is it the 8 digit one at the top left?

As we will not have a bill as such will we still be able to call at a local bank and pay by cash?

The text I received was in Turkish. I understand some of it, but could someone tell me exactly what they need to know. The news article isn't really helpful. It just has a stream of numbers and doesn't explain what the numbers are. Thanks

I think the information you are being requested to reply with is

kımlik card / ID number
electricity bill number
name
email

What is not clear to me is if you do not respond with these details what the consequence is ?

Thank you for your reply,Erol. I don't have a kimlik card. So don't know how to reply to that request ! Meter is also not in my name. I suppose I will have to try to get to the kibtek office and ask.

This could be fun! Just in the process of changing the account name for the connected supply (tomorrow) and will attempt to give them the "New" information once I have done that. Interesting to note that if I was a TC or a Foreigner with a TC guarantor then the cost of change over is 469TL, no refund for the previous owner regardless.

However, if I was a Foreigner without a TC guarantor then the change over cost is still 469TL PLUS 469TL PLUS 469TL or a total of 1407TL. When I asked why I was told "because that is the rule" for a Foreigner. It is not about the meter, it is about a deposit that guarantees the bill will be paid - I asked how much deposit had the Government Offices or Cratos Hotel paid and just received a smile - lol.

So I ended up feeling sorry for all the TC's because it is obvious that they get their electric turned off at the end of one month without paying but I can run for three months before my electric is turned off - or is that the other way around???????????????

Got questions about what to do in reply to the text? Text your question to Kibtek because they are the only people who have any clue about what is going on.

Erol - are you sure that the ID number they refer to is not the number on your kimlik card but the electric meters ID number which shows on your bill as 'sayak No'?

@bert -my sayak(meter) number is the same every month-the number which changes every month is the 'bilderim no'!!!

@amelia-I too got the text,I am simply trying to ascertain as to what ID number they want-i.e. your personal ID number, which in the case of a temprory resident would I assume be the number on your pink card,or the ID number of your meter(which is assume is the 'sayak' number (I think)

Went into kibtek this am to register. Details taken were:
1. Electric account number
2. Name of account holder
3. mobile number
What's difficult about that?

Our meter is 50 metres from our house and to date has not been changed for a new one (which has been a topic on here) so does this mean that we will still have to have a meter reading as presumably it won't be able to be read electronically!!

If this is the case, do we still have to respond to said text as we also do not own the property so bill is not in our name.

I wrote down every number with the name of the number next to it!
I would have written my kimlik no. if the article I read ( link posted above) said to do so, but I didn't see that!
We rent our house and I put the address and know by going to the office is matters little
who's name is on the address... As long as they have yours and know you are living there and paying the bill!
I wrote my email too... If they have your email, electricity details and phone number I'm sure they can contact you if there's a problem...

I tend to be relaxed about these things and hope local common sense will prevail ..Sorry if this fails to help you but I've been okay so far...

In case it helps the following is the turkish text I received
sms from kibtek wrote:Adina kayitli elektrik sayaci bulunan tuketicilerimizin her bir sayac icin ayri ayri; kimlik, hesap, sayac no, ad, soyadi ve mail adreslerini her bilgiden sonra bir bosluk birakarak elektrik fatura bilgisi almak istedikleri GSM numarasindan ucretsiz olarak 9898'e SMS atmalarini rica ederiz.
Google translation of the above come out as
google translate of above kibtek sms wrote:Each counter on the separately with electrical meter registered on behalf of our consumers; identity , account, meter number, name after name and e-mail addresses they want to receive any information as free from the GSM number , leaving a gap of electricity billing information, we ask them to take SMS to 9898 .
Can not really say I am much the wiser

It would seem to me they are asking for 6 separate pieces of information to be sent back (if you count first name and surname as separate items)

kimlik (identity)
hesap (bill) - (my last electricity bill has a hesap no)
sayac no - counter (meter) no ? (again my last bill has a sayac no)
ad - name (first name)
soyadi - last name
email address

Confusing to say the least. Only 5 items, unlike Erol's comment above, were asked for in the text from Kibtek to me. The unclear item is Identification number per the Kibtek text. The only number, apart from the Sayaç No.(Meter No.) that hasn't changed over the months has been the Tüketici No. (Consumer No.), so I have shown this in my response. If I am wrong me thinks I won't get a bill in the forthcoming months.......................ah bliss!

I got the text too but not a clue as to what information I need to send or what it means regarding paying my bill - and that of my neighbours when they are not here. I pay at the local butcher just now so hope I can still do that. Hope there is a better explanation forthcoming, via Cyptus Today perhaps, rather than the differing explanations here - although thanks to those who are trying to help numpty's like me!

Kamstrup bags smart meter tender in Northern Cyprus
Posted by: Rose BundockApril 30, 2015Leave a Comment
The 30,000 meter rollout is accompanied by a disconnect solution, automatically switching off the meter if the voltage level becomes too high
The 30,000 smart meters being deployed in Northern Cyprus incorporate a disconnect feature that automatically switches off the meter if the voltage level becomes too high

In southern Europe, KIB-TEK, an energy company in Northern Cyprus, has awarded Danish smart meter manufacturer Kamstrup a contract for the deployment of 36,000 smart electricity meters.

Kamstrup is deploying 30,000 OMNIPOWER single phase meters, along with 6,000 OMNIPOWER three phase meters, enabled by GPRS communication.

The smart meter rollout, which began in December 2014, is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2015, with 15,000 meters installed to date.

Kamstrup is also providing additional support with technology integration and the training of installers.

Managing voltage fluctuations
KIB-TEK, which is the only electricity company serving Northern Cyprus, has a customer base of 175,000 and is considered to be one of the most advanced utilities in the region in terms of advanced metering.

One of the challenges of the local electricity network is the high level of voltage fluctuations in the grid as a result of a 'extreme climatic environment' on the island.

In order to address voltage fluctuations, Kamstrup has developed a extra feature tailored to the Northern Cyprus market - a disconnect solution able to automatically switch of the meter, should the voltage level be too high.

The meter manufacturer said this also aims to protect customers from fire danger and damaged in-home appliances.

Kamstrup's AMI win in Copenhagen
The deal follows another win for Kamstrup in Europe when it won a tender for one million remotely read electricity meters worth €239m.

In March 2015, Kamstrup said it beat competition from 30 international suppliers to secure the order from DONG Energy Eldistribution to provide metering units for the Greater Copenhagen area until 2034.

The news follows DONG Energy putting out an advanced metering infrastructure tender in April 2014 for one service provider to deliver one million meters in the capital Copenhagen and one of its regions Zealand in a contract estimated at 2 billion DKK (Danish krone).

The scope of the tender included meters, communication and head end system, as well as installing meters and communication systems and maintenance.

DONG Energy's installation is part of a move towards remote electricity meters and the introduction of hourly electricity consumption reading in Denmark.

DONG Energy has chosen the OMNIA suite of meters "that allows new functionality to be uploaded directly to the meters to ensure that the solution can live up to future demands as well,” says Per Asmussen, CEO of Kamstrup
