Opinions from you all regarding TRNC

Hi everyone. I would like to ask opinions from you all regarding TRNC? Let me though; first explain a little about us. We are a British couple who have been living in Dahab, South Sinai, Egypt, for the past 6½ years. Further to this, we have visited countless countries in the Far East and West. We first visited TRNC back in 2003 for a two week holiday. We are now at a point where for us, it is time to leave Egypt and we have been considering TRNC. With this in mind we again visited TRNC in March of this year and spent a month looking around the beautiful countryside that is TRNC and of course, investigating property and prices. We would like to ask your opinions (both good and bad) on life in TRNC, property both purchase and long term rental, concerns as to the future i.e. North& South.

Been coming here for over 15 years, lived here without leaving the Island for the past 8 years. You would have to lever me off the Island!!! It is what it is, you like it or not, you complain or just "rub along" - you are a visitor here and always will be. It is a country of seemingly endless stupid rules and laws and because it is a small country it all appears to be "in your face" much the same way as a village in the UK. Name me a village in the UK that you can move into and become a "Villager" within a space of 30 years!!! Come here if you like the country, rent first, do not buy. Live in the East for a while then live in the West for a while - try both sides till you find what you are looking for, then ask questions again. Concerns for the future: Either the Island will become one, or it won't. This is Cyprus and nothing here changes in a hurry - apart from BMW ownership and furniture shops, lol.

People will tell you that it has become expensive, well prices have gone up for sure but so have wages and of course so has the exchange rate for the £ - it is all debatable. For sure it has all changed in the last 15 years from being a sleepy and quiet place with little traffic and cheap nights/days out - where has it not changed in the world?

No plans to leave here and no wish to live anywhere else - the quiet life and the peaceful, helpful (the majority) people suit us and we like it here. We have learnt to "rub along" and not get upset by things we have no control over, that is the key to living here.

Agree 100%with Waddo in everything he has said. First came on holiday in 1972 cancelled in 1974 for obvious reasons and back to the North in 1984.Love it so much, went back as Waddo 8 years ago. NEVER again out of choice. Yes rent to start, come and enjoy. Learn to relax and go with the flow, other wise you will have a nervous breakdown !!!!

Thank you all for the replies and the link to the old thread, which we have read through and although it is dated back in 2012 is quite informative. That said is it possible to get some more up to date feedback from the member’s, thanks.
