Have been following this story for a couple of days now, so saddening, so stupid and a total waste of probably 7 endangered lives, I hope he gets prosecuted or worse.

I hope the lion gets the last laugh - decomposes, gets infested with fleas that bite him and give him some terrible skin disease that causes the disfigurement of that smug face of his..

Sophie there are no gory pictures just the story of a dentist shooting a lion with a bow & arrow then tracking it & finishing it off with a rifle. The thing to top it off is he said "he didn't know it was a famous lion or he wouldn't have killed it" ......OK that is fine then, one other poor lion would of died instead to satisfy his blood lust......

He had (in fact) previously slaughtered a cheetah and a rhino in the name of 'sport'. How the African authorities sanction this beggars belief. Perhaps it's time to stop their aid until they abide by decency!

It is a highly controversial issue but legal trophy hunting can (it is argued) be a useful part of conservation efforts.

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news ... servation/
Even so, all three of those bodies—CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora), the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and IUCN—are on record as allowing limited, targeted hunting.
In particular, CITES has granted Namibia an annual export quota of up to five hunter-taken black rhinos. Scientists estimate there are 1,795 of the animals living in the African country.
http://conservationmagazine.org/2014/01 ... servation/

To be honest I am not sure where I stand on managed controlled trophy hunting as a part of conservation efforts. I do think given that there is 'legal' (managed) trophy hunting, then that is different from it being done illegally and outside of any conservation effort ?

He is a complete "ooops". Does he think that shooting and leaving an animal to die in such terrible pain makes him a " MAN "???? It's disgusting, actually there are no words to describe what he did. He should be brought to account BIGTIME. My God!!!!! I hope that no one ever goes to his dentist again. Being in jail for the rest of his life is not enough. I was born in Zimbabwe and the wildlife is one of the attractions. But, he, and others like him, are trying to wipe them out. He is a disgusting beast and I really hope that some " justice " is served on him. He is not worthy of the term " human". F-----G "ooops". Smiling and then cutting the poor animal's head off. It just beggers belief.

One report stated that this lion "would be added to his collection of 43 slaughtered animals...". He is reported as having been charged and fined previously for shooting a black bear in Wisconsin, USA.

This has gone viral, his dentist practise is affected and he will probably leave his Wisconsin home. Sky are saying he will be professionally ruined. GOOD. I hope he is arrested and sentenced to life with hard labour.

For 'oops' - read 'bar-steward' - cos that's what I posted, with slightly different spelling!

Obviously, this forum automatically converts any imprecations to 'oops'!
