Please only use your aircon if you can't cope with the heat. Try fans first & get in the shade!!

Must be a lot of short memories here, not that many years ago the power was off more than was on! Saved on electric bills though

One of the quaint things about living here the odd power cut. We lived with out Electricity for 15 months here due to problems with connection (just a small genny.) what a real learning curve and taught us to appreciate it and not take it for granted.

I had purchased a big generator then found out the cost per week to get 24/7 & electric would have been in the region of 1500 Tl per week in diesel. So made us realise just what fantastic value our mains electricity really is. Its there virtually 24/7 at the flick of a switch.

I think Kibtec are doing a very good job of keeping us supplied with very few power cuts. Just look at the rate of new builds, large hotels, etc. etc. how can they keep up with out a few snags.

But I do think that any company like say Cratos Hotel, Merit,or any large build, should pay a one off initial substantial payment with their connection to help Kibtec to grow accordingly.

Thanks Kibtec.

The named hotels make an initial payment. That's a good one. Last I heard they hadn't paid their current bills.

My thoughts exactly Joe Soap. The Cratos has been previously named as owing a huge sum of money for their electric!

But, are these 'reported' debts fact or just rumour for forum discussion?

Don`t forget, the biggest debtors to Kibtek are the government, if they paid maybe the bills would come down Oh, what was that then, a flying pig?!!

I do want to thank Kibtek, at 8.30 tonight we lost our power, we assumed another power cut until we went outside and saw that some houses still had power. We called Kibtek, left our numbers for an English speaker to call us back. Waited an hour, called a friend who speaks Turkish, they called Kibtek and at 11.30 Kibtek staff arrived. A fuse had blown on the transformer knocking out 3 houses, they replaced it in 10 minutes and normal service has resumed. Our daughter arrives from UK in the next couple of hours so we were particularly relieved for her sake.

tomsteel,

I don't 'do' forum rumours however I do read the papers and this widely reported in all the Turkish papers and our very own Cyprus Today ....believe as you wish.

And you believe the Cyprus 'Toadie' (CT) reports fact? Another bacon sarnie flies by. I do not disbelieve Kibtec are owed lots of money. However, I do wonder why they do not recover these sums from governmental departments, mosques, hotels/casinos and large companies when they are so quick to cut off the 'pond life' customer. Perhaps you could pose the question to CT for a factual answer.

There was a traffic accident near the Golf Club yesterday which hit a main power cable, this contributed to the loss of power.
