does anyone have the number for reporting workers working in this heat after 12. We have had a cement mixer now for 3 weeks solid going from 8-4pm tried to contact Seastone but number does not work now need to contact works number in Lefkosa thank you

I am told by a TC businessman that the Government sent a text message to all TC Registered businesses yesterday, they informed them that for the next either 3 or 5 days (his English is a bit like my Turkish) that it was illegal to work outside in the sunlight between 12:00 and 16:00. That included the police as well by the way but excluded emergency services. Now that's a bit of news that Cyprus Today can report on this Saturday and keep up the tradition of yesterdays news!

However, it would probably be best to inform the Police about this illegal activity or if you know where they are, your local community police. Either of them should sort it out for you.

I have contacted the police in Lapta and they said it's the works place in lefkosia but had no number!!! Couldn't hear very well for the bl....dy noise I went and showed the workman the copy of the Kibris news headlines but he just shrugged his shoulders. They have been there since 8 am every day for three weeks and it's now 4pm !!!!

Or anyone got a working number for Seastone property repair company please ?

I have to say that I'm not surprised that the workmen weren't interested - if you stop them working, they won't get paid!

I am sorry to say that the police will only intervene if they are working on a Sunday, it will take you more than 5 days to contact the right department.
When this law ends they can work from first light till last light, in some cases when the mixer can only deliver at night they will work till they have finished.

Just suck it up its all part of the TRNC system so why try and change it ?

Legin11 - the point being is that the Government have sent the information out. Its not a Brit is trying to replicate the "nanny state" I have seen many more workmen sitting under the shade of trees and bushes for longer periods of time over the last few weeks.

The boss from seastone is at present taking a well earned break on holiday in England. However my brother in law works here and before you start making complaints do you realise that these workers may get time off during the day but they then have to do the work after 4pm when they could be spending time with their children and families. Could it be that the noise of a cementmixer would annoy you at any time? We have put up with houses being completed after moving in but hey ho us expats want work done. As previous comment above just put up with it, this is Cyprus and I would add, I used to offer workers on adjoining houses , when they were working there, water. Because of my simple offer I would have food brought round from their wives and we made many friends. Relax chill out and be kind

My gardener informed me that four workers died yesterday from heatstroke in Lefkosa, so this ban on working after 12 noon should not be taken lightly.
