If you think this is controversial see his catholic church speech.

Christopher Hitchens was a great writer, he wrote a couple of books about Cyprus and one called "The trial of Henry Kissinger" At one time he was married to a Cypriot.

Hitches hated Kissinger with a passion .And, quite rightly so, in my opinion, said of Mother Teresa. This woman who said to the people of Africa " aids is bad but not as bad as condoms" To the people of Haiti after suffering a dreadful earthquake this is God's punishment ". Religion, in the words of Mark Twain, " the Bible is a mass of fables and traditions, mere mythology but we all know it's a lot worse than that, look no further than what's happening with I.s.I.s.

"And in the beginning God created etc." Or, "And in the beginning there was a Big Bang etc."
One is a belief the other a fact. Good ol' Stephen.

And to think he could have been prosecuted under Ireland's Blasphemy laws, introduced in 2009/10.
It beggars belief that in the 21st century such laws still exist.
It won't be long before laws are brought in for disrespecting Father Christmas..

Hence the reason there shouldn't be any Blasphemy laws.
