hi anyone had cataract surgery here or in Turkey preferably in a hospital .

A friend had cataracts done at Near East and all went well. They have quite a large eye department there.

My Turkish Cypriot friend had them done by Dr Hatice in Girne at the eye clinic. Two operations and both very successful.

Any idea of costs please

The eye clinic is By the traffic lights on the back Pia Bella road.
Dr Hatice also has a discount for BRS card holders.
Best to ask her for a price but as I recall it was a good price according to my neighbour.

She just quoted me £800 per eye less 10% if BRS member

Not sure about her she would not give me a prescription two years ago said I needed my cataracts done immediately so went to kolan and got the prescription and was told to come back this year. Just trying all the alternatives.

I just had cataract surgery performed by Dr. Guvenir at the Etik Hospital, Lefkosa - surgery almost opposite the general Hospital - easy to find. He has the most modern equipment - very impressive!

The surgery took about half an hour. As well as an advanced cataract, I had bad scar tissue in the eye, sustained through a rugby injury and, to cut the story, this amazing doctor has restored 95% of my vision. So good is it, that when I visited him, after a week, for the free post-op. examination, I could read the smallest letters on the test-screen perfectly - how good is that. Cost - TL1800 + the cost of post-op eyedrops, which one should apply 3 times daily and then tail it off, but ideally keep applying them a coupla times per day for 8 weeks. Hope this info. helps!
