Ozanköy Carob Festival

I was sorry to see there was apparently lıttle or no support for the Festival from the British Community, particularly as they had gone to the trouble to add an English language talk about the local poet (Osman Türkay) who was being celebrated yesterday evening, and a short reading of a few of his poems in English. Admittedly I was not there the whole evening, but while I was there , there were Pakistanis and Nigerians as well as Turks and TCs but only three other Brits who appeared to be holidaymakers. At a time when a lot of Brits are wondering about their future in the country surely they should be showing an interest in and supporting local endeavours?

Admittedly there was little publicity (a short para in yesterdays CT) and I havent seen a programme but surely some of the many Brits who drive through must have realised that something was going on from the stalls and bunting during the day.

Last chance of three this evening, starts about 8 o clock.

I think you have not calculated accurately as I know of at least six other ex pat residents who were going. Not everyone stays for all of the festival. We were already busy last night before we knew the festival was on, as you say publicity was not good.
Having been in previous years I think this event has always been well supported by a good cross section of nationalities.

RR who are you to judge how many ex pats were there, did you see me there Friday and Saturday, lots of our ex pat friends were there, and yes we actually live in the village and DO support the locals a lot, silly statement to make.

Oh dear, someone always has to be on the attack against an individual.

Mollie: No I did not see you, because as far as I am aware I do not know you and wouldnt recognise you! And I DID say that admittedly I was not there the whole evening! I speak as someone who has been attending this Festival every year since it started and whilst I never thought to count, at least the times I was there were definitely fewer this year

Cracker has a good point re parking. It is difficult in Ozanköy. But as for "thought for residents" neither have the people who come to visit restaurants or as a short cut and drive fast through narrow roads, spattering the houses with dust in summer and mud in winter. Three evenings for a good cause is a drop in the ocean, and at least events at the Sports Club obey the rules about timing for loud music

We went and saw our english friends there!...I think this was a great festival and made me glad to be living here and experiencing/ exposing my children to great music and culture...

Some great talent, better than some of the english crap we've been subjected to!! LOL!!!

Yes, I said SOME, NOT ALL!

(Head down already...I'm ready for you haters!!! LOL)

P.S. The Belediye were on top form with their mess limitation!

Good for you Jazzdolly . I agree with all you said.

I also noticed there was also a very visible Police presence , which I dont recall from earlier years - sad sign of the times?
