We got a bill today & they fitted a new meter as well. Presumably this is our last bill.

Just got an e-mail from Kib Tek telling us what our bill is. must be one of the lucky ones

Our meter was read and we had printed bill plus amount sent by text

I got the text telling how much somebody else's bill is.

We have had a smart meter for months and still always get a paper bill.

Get Kibtek to send it to me Keith - quite happy to ignore yours in the same way as I ignore the other guys, the more the merrier, I am just trying to check out the remote switching off of electric that Kibtek rave about - lol.

So far one text message,early last month,followed by 2 guys to check the meter reading, Since then sod all!!!!

I asked my smart meter what the results of the latest talks might be - no answer - so not very smart!

Asked mine the same question, it gave me an answer - but it was all in Greek!!!

Bring back parchment and the quill pen I say. Slow maybe but probably accurate.

Less than an hour after my last post, RESULT I got my old meter read and a paper bill!! in fact I got TWO identical bills one handed to me and the other put in the meter cupboard!!!!Arrears from last month on it. You couldn't make it up, could you?

Presumably they will be employed reading the Water Meters, post 28 Oct?

Well the system obviously works as we responded and registered by text message and yesterday we had a bill via e mail.

Is the email bill detailed or does it just show the amount?

It is detailed.

I've just received my bill by email. Very detailed and in English.
At the top there was my account name and number plus meter number and dates.
Attached is what you get. Very clear and helpful.

I got an email with the bill attached yesterday too. Easy to download and print if you want it.

Thanks for the scanned example; am I right in guessing that "Maktu Ücret (Fixed Price)" is more or less the equivalent of "Standing Charge"?

That's right, it's a fixed charge 'per day' so will vary slightly according to the number of days between meter readings.

Since my last posting re 2 identical bills, apparently one has to stay in the meter box until the new one is fitted! then I got details by e-mail, all in Turkish and completely illegible, a mass of jumbled figs/ letters over printed at least 3 times. I GIVE UP!!!

Anyone throw some light on the process for challenging a bill? We have an apartment that was empty during July and yet we received a bill for 818TL for the month. All the bills for the previous year don't amount to that! The average bill for the empty apartment has been 50TL a month. We believe it was when the meter was changed from analogue to digital and was misread. We don't have the old meter, so how do we prove the bill is wrong?

So all this has happened since I was last in the country (Feb), does that mean my electricity will be switched off?

According to the JPEG of the bill you have to pay within 30 days to avoid cut off.

Maybe not as I always pay more than the bill so I am in credit (or does this not apply now?)

if you've got aCurrent Account with a Bank in TRNC, you can set up a standing order, takes all the worry away (once they actually get it working ).

They don't normall pay until the last due date, so your money can sit nice and snug in the Bank until then...

They won't cut you off unless you exceed the stated limit (around 450 TL or so, I think) anyway.

Don't know if they still allow you to go 'in credit' - but I don't see why they wouldn't...
