Had our new "smart" Electric meter fitted this morning. Sad to say the meter is smarter than the THREE men who came to install it. The time from the electricity being turned off, meter replaced and electric back on was approximately 5 minutes a very simple job to do. Two men moved onto the next house while man number THREE filled in the paperwork!
My wife went out to lock the meter box and picked up the empty cardboard box and cellophane wrapping, discarded on the floor by the "workmen", despite our wheelie bin being three feet away and their (empty)open backed truck being outside our house. On her way down to the shops, she picked up another four discarded meter boxes and put them in a bin.
THREE men turning up, one man to drive? one man to replace the meter? one man to fill out the form?
Any wonder why the electricity is so expensive here.
Thirty five years ago, I managed to drive my Gas van to a house, change the meter which took approximately 5 minutes, tested the internal gas pipework on switching the gas back on and even managed to fill out the paperwork!
