Pet Owners Beware - Poisoning report

KAR have received a report today about poisoning near Onar Village (just off of the big Girne/Lefcosia roundabout) - it was near/on Sabri Tahir Sokak. The 2 dogs went out this morning at about 7.30 - 8 am and returned very soon afterwards foaming at the mouth. Their owner rushed them to the vets but sadly 1 died. The other is still undergoing treatment. It is not known how they picked up the poison (eg laced meat, bones, carcass) but it all happened very quickly.
Our thought and sadness are with the owner but we are also grateful to them for letting us know so that we can spread the word to other owners in the area.
Please please be careful when walking your dogs.

Thank you to the owners of these poor dogs and to KAR for posting this warning.
What excuse do these morons have of purposely laying poison down to kill domesticated animals or wildlife, none what so ever!
Just wish we could find out who they are and that they could receive a punishment worthy of the heinous act they carried out.
I am so sorry for the loss of one family pet and just hope the other poor dog can find the strength to survive.

BBB's other half.

Maybe, just a maybe, the owners of the poisoned dog who sadly died can take one of the pointers the Good Samaritan has asked to be rehoused from her pack of 11?

TS's comment is not as heartless as it first sounds. When one of my dogs was poisoned I resolved never to get another. I was persuaded otherwise and came to feel some consolation that the "sacrifice" of the poisoned dog has given another poor homeless animal a better life than otherwise. Though some 13 years afterwards, I am still overprotective of my current dogs and probably they not to mention myself would have more freedom and a better life if I did not always go in fear of the risk of poison.

My post was never meant to be conceived as 'heartless' and I profoundly regret if it has been taken as such a sentiment. I, would, willingly take another needy dog into my home if, God forbid, one of my current crew died for whatever reason. If I have offended, I tender my most sincere and profound apologies for appearing to be insensitive to others grief.

sorry Tom I is probably me being a bit oversensitive - and rushing in where I really have no business to! MY apologies too.

My first thought on reading the post was it was a bit hard to suggest replacing a lost dog with another, then I thought of my own experience and realised what you said actually was not so unreasonable. The owners are, however, probably concentrating on the surviving dog - my very best wishes for its complete recovery - and protecting it against a repetition.

The loss of a dog is always so sad, particularly in these circumstances. I have outlived five dogs in the course of my own life, and I still mourn them all, but it is still possible for another to wriggle its way into one's life and affections.

I absolutely reinforce your wishes for a full and speedy recovery for the other dog and I wish 'karma' on whoever laid the poison for whatever misguided rationale. I, also, fully support your critical view of my post if I over-stepped the mark of decency, even in ignorance of likely interpretation.
