4 of us decided to try the New Moon restaurant last night. We went in and was directed to a table which was fine and then that waiter came to take the orders. We ordered 3 Garlic prawns and 1 garlic mushrooms for starters. About 20 minutes later they came with 1 garlic mushrooms and 3 prawn cocktails. After we had pointed out the mistake he said no problem he would change them so we asked for some bread. The bread came but there were no side plates and no butter knives. We eventually got our starters which looked well presented. Then came the main courses.
3 steaks and 1 chicken. 2 steaks were supposed to be medium to well cooked and 1 rare. The rare was fine but the other 2 were rare to medium. 2 of them were sent back to the kitchen and then came back out covered in sauce and still rare to medium. Once i cut into mine and saw the blood still running there was no way i could eat it. The meal was served with potatoes which i have to say were very nice, a bowl of vegetables which were cold and a bowl of rice which had been microwaved and was too hard to eat. The owner came over and said how sorry she was. I had given up by this point so we asked for the bill. The waiter came over with the bill and i was shocked to see that they were still charging me full price for my meal. She saw me adding up the bill and sent the waiter to ask if we would like fruit and coffee, they did take the price of my meal off in the end but it still came to 250TL.
Drinks are very expensive 40TL for a bottle of Angora.
Within an hour of being home everything i had eaten which was not much ended up in the toilet.
I dont like to run any business down but i think they need to make some serious changes if they are to stay open. We will not be going there again.

Are you sure you ordered right . Please reread what you have written . Perhaps you misordered ....as from what you have written you got exactly what you ordered . I think you are confused . I have no connection with the new moon but elderly people which i suspect you are can get things mixed up . I sympathise with this restaurant .

I've just read the first posting and to me they didn't get what they ordered. They didn't order Prawn Cocktails they ordered Garlic Prawns. They ordered medium to well done steaks and got rare to medium.

Maybe I'm confused and old

Reyntj i am neither confused or old and what i have written is the truth. We did not get what we ordered and the service was not good. My experience and my opinion maybe others have been there and had a better experience than i did but i will not be rushing back anytime soon.

Sad to say but it doesn't surprise me. We really did want this place to succeed. They have worked so hard to make it look good, with waterfalls etc and digging out space for two lamb in the well. We were assured that within two weeks they would be serving, Chinese and Indian food as well as Turkish. I don't know if they have got there yet. In our case the main course arrived within five minutes of receiving our starter, the waiter was going to leave it on the table but I asked for it to be taken away. Lord knows what happened to the two plates but our main course was stone cold when they came back. We were asked to keep our starter knifes and forks for the main course and so it went on. I think we received a small discount, however we've shown our displeasure with our feet and won't be going back.

Bearing in mind they had only been open just over a week and the young lady (fiancée of the owner) was trying very hard to smooth things over, as was the head water who was the only waiter who spoke English. He remarked "these people have a lot to learn" It would appear they still haven't learned and its a real pity. BTW. New Moon used to be Al Sheen, just up from the Punjab in Lapta.

BTW Mods - this should be in Restaurant Reviews and not General.

Hi WeddingsinNorthCyprus, my Grandson might consider you old, age is a relative thing. Maybe you never went to a restaurant at all and just imagined it
