An accident waiting to happen.

Yesterday we drove past the newly opened college on the by pass just as the kids were coming out of school, it was absolute chaos and very frightening. There were dozens of cars parked on the hard shoulder and there were many more, plus school buses, at the front of the building picking up the children. Just past there was a opening where streams of cars were taking turns to join the main road, traffic in the inside lane was having to pull over into the outside lane where cars were tearing along at their usual breakneck speed.
Whoever allowed this situation to arise must be mental, it is an accident waiting to happen and when it does it will be carnage.

Heads Up! Where is the new school please? The By-Pass covers a lot of ground.

Elizabeth, come on. A dangerous situation, crazy drivers on the roads of North Cyprus. Read somewhere that this was the safest place in the world to drive, couldn't stop laughing.

Heading towards Alsancak it's on the left near to the Nazirin ? Restaurant, next door to some huge white villas with columns at the front, just along from the road to Green Heights cemetery.

It's part if the GAU (Girne American Uni) complex.
Perhaps a "Road-Safety" note to the Principal and Chancellor wouldn't be a bad idea. You can find them both on Facebook or through the Uni website.
Talking of bad driving, am I the only person who knows what hands free is for?

I agree with your post Elizabeth. We came past there on Tuesday and couldn't believe the way people had parked, many of them not solely on the hard shoulder, so cars were swerving out to miss them. Whoever thought this was a good place to build a school needs their brains testing, it was a very frightening experience and definitely a place to miss at kicking out time.

And where were the Traffic Police and the "new parking violation officers"?

Don't forget it's named after Florence Nightingale (hope they have corrected the spelling by now) Perhaps they think it will give immunity. At least I guess we are talking about the same building? I agree its totally crackers, especially when the afternoons become darker.

Traveller, you are certainly not the only one who knows what "hands free" is. I have seen many hands free cars here, it means that your car knows how to steer while you have a fag in one hand and your mobile in the other, possibly with a can of drink involved too.

Sophie, Elizabeth is writing about a school on the Girne - Alsancak by-pass, not the GAU hospital being constructed on the Karaloganou road!
