I assume from these posts nobody has checked with their belidiye as to a reason?

I rang the Belediye to tell them our bins had not been emptied (this happens every so often). They gave no explanation. I assumed it was the usual "let's miss the last stop so we can knock off early" exercise by our conscientious bin men. Incidentally, we have to leave our bins 500m away from the house because they say it's too difficult to get the truck down to our houses. Yet incredibly, every year just before Christmas, the vary same truck miraculously makes its way down to the houses quite easily to collect their Christmas tip! I didn't think Muslims celebrated Christmas.

I would tip mine quite happily(in Dipkarpaz) They are really good. I have been missed on occasion but when I phone or send a message via FB the come.
I offered a tip once as I had a real clear out and about 10 bags as well as the bin but they refuse the tip, said they were not allowed to take it!!!

Bin men are great in the Esentepe area. However wouldn't the KIBCOM if somebody didn't have a negative comment would it.

Bert. Everything I wrote is true, like it or not, so your comment is a little harsh.
And for your information, it's now over 2 weeks and no sign of them being emptied so I'm more than entitled to voice my opinion.

The bin men were great in the Esentepe area, they would take anything that was beside your bin. About a year ago the crew changed and the new crew will only take the rubbish that is actually in the bin, they leave anything else including the emptied bin in the road.
My husband has to make constant trips to the municipality tip in the village to take broken plastic chairs, sunbeds etc. in order to keep our site tidy and this is at his own expense. We also have to pay £200 per quarter for garden waste removal for the site. We have always tipped the bin men generously in the past but they won't be getting anything from us this year.
Our bins were emptied for the first time in two weeks last night.

You have a tip in the Esentepe area for broken sunbeds etc.? Lucky you! No such thing (that I am aware of) in the Lapta area. We asked at the Bele office what to do with an old wheelbarrow, and got the shrug! No wonder there is so much fly tipping if even the Bele can't give an answer to such questions. The wheelbarrow, by the way, still graces our garden.

Our bin men in Alsancak are lovely. They get a little something at the end of the year and they are marvellous at taking away things that we might consider a bit past it, but they find homes for. They love old garden equipment and broken electric goods. Clearly they have mates that can mend stuff we can't. I don't mean fridge freezers and such.

Our binmen in Bellapais are great, they even bring the post with them sometimes. Can't fault them, they take everything away, although we do try to make it easy for them by bagging up. They have taken large items in the past too, no problem. They come twice a week.....much better service than the UK.

There is also something called "after 6 shopping" We left plastics tables and chairs, ironing boards, folding clothes dryers at the bottom of the drive and they have all mysteriously disappeared. The table and chairs, within the hour!! Perhaps someone would like your wheelbarrow, broken or otherwise.
