This story has now been confirmed by the Ministry of Defence that 4 migrant boats have landed at RAF Akrotiri, the first time migrants have landed on British soil since the war began in Syria. No one is sure yet where they have come from or what route they were meant to take.

There is an agreement in place that anyone landing by sea at the bases will be handed over to ROC officials. The ROC is of course an EU member. Interesting!

Panchocat, on the news this morning in UK after 9.00am it was said that it was almost certain that ROC would become responsible for the migrants, so you are correct. The journalist also did say that at that time it was all a bit muddled.

The news just announced that there is an agreement with GC that those arriving on a sovereign base cannot claim in Uk.
