good friendly service

i am not connected to this business in any way.
I have just returned from a couple of weeks stay in TRNC - we go every year in Oct.
We have always remarked on how grumpy the staff have been in the supermarkets compared to our experience in the UK.
Lo and behold we visited a massive new supermarket - called the Sah supermarket and what a difference- really young pleasant chap at the vegetable area asking if we needed help and also if we were fine - then at the check out - chap helping us to pack and again pleasant cashier .
We wondered why the Lemat just along the road was dead and maybe just maybe the "staff/customer" realationship has something to do with it.
We wish Sah all the best -keep up the good work
regards
frugal

Frugal90. You are absolutely spot on, the staff at Şa are lovely. MOST of the staff at Lemar are gross, particularly the men. Where the hell they drag them up from I have no idea. Having said that, try and get a smile out of the men staff at Starlings, its virtually impossible. Try speaking basic Turkish too them and it makes it even worse!

Sah is my favourite supermarket for sure. I'm sick and tired of having to deal with the rude and ignorant cashiers in Lemar and Supreme. It's a pleasure to go to Sah and be treated as a valued customer, with politeness and a friendly smile. Customer service is almost non existent in North Cyprus so Sah is a real breath of fresh air.
Great shopping experience too. Good salad bar, tasty hot food and don't get me started on the cakes and pastries.
The only thing I would change is to have the hot food dishes labelled in English too. I have to ask what the dishes are and most of the staff on that counter can't speak English.
If you haven't shopped there, there, then give it a try. Even if it's only to try the fab little basket trollies!

Surprised at your comment about supreme, have always found the staff very obliging, Ulas the floor manager is very helpful and eager to please. The girls on the tills, are excellent and by far the most cheerful. Sah, is lovely and the waitrose of the island!!!!

Agree with Butterfly we have always found the Supreme girls helpful and friendly.
Sah is lovely but for the main shop we still use Supreme and supplement at Sah.

Interesting how branches and experiences differ - I've just spent five weeks in the north, and frequently used Girne and Karaoglanoglu branches of Lemar - from the beginning, all the staff were very helpful and polite, and as time went by we got to know each other, recognising and having a little chat each visit. Same occurred at Starling and Storemaxx - must be like this the world over; some branches are OK, some are not - it's down to the individual staff (and customers!) at each place....

My partner and I have found that most supermarket staff, especially Supreme are extremely friendly ,polite and helpful. Those of you that find staff the opposite are probably whingeing Brits who expect the locals to speak English and cannot yourselves converse in the Turkish language.A little light hearted comment always helps.

I agree with the comments regarding staff in both Supreme and Lemar, Karakum. Have never found them other than very pleasant and helpful and yes if you are a regular customer they will always say hello and ask how you are. Have always found them helpful when searching for a product as well. Yes Sah is very well laid out and the staff seem pleased to serve you but I continue to support Supreme as they have made a real effort to stock what the English customer wants and have steadily improved since we moved here 8 years ago

I've shopped regularly in Supreme for the past 6 years. Never had a problem always found them helpful & cheerful.
Until today, young lady at the till was sullen faced, snatched my card from my hand. I did mention that it's very rude to snatch. Whether she understood I don't know she showed no sign.
Maybe she was having a bad day or feeling unwell. her attention seemed to be elsewhere.
I will continue to shop at Supreme just avoid little miss misery even if the queues for other tills are half a dozen deep.

While I lived there I discovered that the sulky ones were the ones where Daddy had found them a job through a relative, but who didn't want a job.
As opposed to those who wanted jobs (CTA?) where they got paid for doing nothing.

Only been on the island a year & always used to go to Çatalkoy Lemar........ Not any more. Staff are rude, miserable and unhelpful. On several occasions I have ended up with out of date goods. Their fruit & veg are poor quality & old, nothing fresh. I now use Supreme & have no complaints. Sah is wonderful too, great layout, great food choices, fresh fruit & veg, meat counter great too. Staff happy & helpful but just a tad expensive but I guess you get what you pay for.
