now this is a interesting one which you could only expect to happen here, as legally employed people we have stoppages taken every month for health ins, tax etc and they also take money for the state pension scheme, but guess what as a foreigner your not allowed to claim it it just goes straight into the locals pot
it appears that the payouts were stopped about 5 yrs ago but the collection still carries on !!
it would be nice if someone with a bit of clout could ask questions on behalf of those of us who are working here as to why were still paying for it

I don,t think they have stopped completely but a friend who non Cypriot has only got 10% of the normal payment. If you have a kimlic card you get the full amount.

At best it's racial discrimination...
If ever there is a 'solution' then it will have to stop (EU won't allow it). You could probably sue via ECHR but... that's a long old road and the TRNC powers that be would probably deport you if you tried... on some trumped-up charge of course, like 'treading on the cracks in the pavement' ...

Or maybe, "Loitering with intent to use a pedestrian crossing".

Don,t mention pedestrian crossings I assumed as they had them they knew what they were for. Big mistake as I learned when I woke up in hospital.

You would have to check on this but I understand that when a foreigner pays social sigorta you can withdraw the pension part of this money once you cease employment.

Hi Andrew. I have spoken to my accountant and he had not heard of this.
Could you say which department issued this information and maybe provide a link.
Many thanks

I pay the thick ent of £4000 per year in social insurance. I can use the hospitals foc from what I gather. A friend of mine an expat worker was recently laid up and unable to work, he got paid out from the pot whilst he was off. No idea how much but he was off for several weeks. I am not sure about pensions. I think we should be a little careful before we start shouting racist without knowing full facts especially when many of this board complain about foreigners receiving benefits in the UK.

am very confused by this post £4000 social sigorta = 18,000tl is about the same as am earning yearly
and as far as i know there is no such thing as 'sick pay' here so what this pot is i have no idea
and still nothing to do with my question regarding pensions

Andrew, I pay nearly 9000 TL per year social security. If you have your own business you will pay more, it also depends on your age.
I can assure you there is “sick pay” here. I had reason to claim it myself. I also know many people that have claimed it.
Social security payments have everything to do with your original post on pensions, they are both linked.
