Starving dog

Apart from feeding the poor thing, what is anyone supposed to do now with a stray bitch which is so thin, and may have recently had pups? I cannot take her in as my dogs would attack her. She is white pointer type, with some grey markings on face, no collar, quite gentle but I think maybe escaped Cypriot hunting dog.
Do we really now have to harden our hearts and leave her to be picked up by the Belediye?

It is just heart breaking, the plight of these poor innocents. I can't imagine what it is like to witness 1st hand, and being in UK I just feel so helpless.

PS if you are feeding her do you have a spare worming tablet? This could help crushed in the food

It is pitiful and sad to see these dogs about but a sensible solution is for the government to organise a cull, round them up and put them to sleep humanely. Saves the poor animal suffering, unwanted pups, packs forming, attacking humans, accidents being caused on the roads...sprinkling unicorn dust on the situation by feeding for a few days does not help and prolongs the agony. There are just not enough kind hearted people to fix this problem and no amount of education to the public is going to help. Look to the problems of animal cruelty in UK and the a out of education that files on there, points being thee are some humans that just don't care.
I am not an animal hater, I have had pets all my life and up to recently had three dogs and two cats, all rescue, sadly my 16 years old cat and 15 year old dog (KAR) had to be put to sleep due to illness.

Thank you all, I have given poor dog a good feed and water, she was so grateful, she then went and has not so far been back to near my house. I just hope some kind person has given her a proper home.

Thank you all again, today the pointer has come back in my area and I took her food and water. She had a good feed but so thin. I hope my photos come out here, not done this before on this site. Wish someone would be able to offer her a home, she's very gentle.

Thank you so much for feeding this scrap of a dog. You can always tell by the way they stand & this poor girl has her head held so low it is heart breaking. Your pic has come out just fine & shows all her ribs unfortunately

SD, could you let us know where you are living please. In the mean time, if possible can you mix a raw egg up with whatever food you are giving the dog, plus a little olive or sun flower oil. The cheapest food to give is pasta, mixed with a little oil. Dogs love it!! Forgot to mention, some but not all dogs, go very thin after giving birth because they pups have "drained" them of both nutrients and energy.

Sophie, thanks for that - I live in Karsiyaka, go past Benjamins restaurant, opposite side of road is next right turn (towards sea side), down that area. I live straight down that road which is dead end. My tele no is 0533 8242864. Yes I wondered about the pup thinness. Haven't seen her this am yet but will do the raw egg etc.

each time i see this picture i could burst into tears, she is so skinny bless her. been to look for her today again as well as search for Lucy, Good, Chalky and Ghengis lost dogs and no sign. i really feel that she desperately needs a loving home, could this be put onto the hope 4 pets Facebook page at all? she looks in a bad way and if several people took turns to feed her until a home is found she stands a much better chance of survival xx
