Hi, looking for advice, I arrived at ercan airport yesterday morning and haven't seen my passport since leaving passport control. I don't know if I've lost it at the airport or in the taxi. I have phoned the taxi company who are going to check the car and also the airport who have given us a number for the airport police but it doesn't work. Has anyone got any idea of who I could phone to check. Really hoping it's going to turn up. Thanks in advance.

Ring this number for the British High Commission 0392 228 3861 for assistance, they gave a talk last week and said they were there for lost passports!

I lost my passport in the land registry debacle few years ago, done all the tracing back ,eventually went to Girne Police where it was waiting for me, so give that a try.

The BHC will only issue an emergency travel document should you need to leave the TRNC and do not have a passport. It is valid for a single journey only and requires flight details. It might be an idea to report the loss there though. If yours doesn't turn up, and you are staying here for some time, it will require an on-line application for a replacement. The BHC doesn't issue replacement passports.

Hi, thanks for your replies, I have just been and collected it from the police station near the airport, it had been found at the airport. Would have been a rush to get a replacement if it hadn't been found as only here for a week!

I have a photocopy of my passport at my house over there.

I wonder if I did actually lose my passport, whether having the photocopy would make things easier with consulate etc?

Scanned my passport driving licence and now in dropbox accessible anywhere with internet access

Certainly not going to make things less easy.
