Thanks Keith for doing that,
I only pointed out this article because of previous threads that were despondent as to the length of time and number of times a carrot was put before non cyps but after 398 views no comment?

I will believe it when they grant me it
As I got older I congratulated myself on my tolerance..... Now I realise I just don't give a "ooops"

Sorry to be a cynic on this one, but like mickhm I'll believe it when I see it. Probably we'll have to have our full title deeds or have at least 50,000GBP in the bank. They won't do a U turn just like that. Have lived here far too long. However, I have paid for a residency stamp every year, but if for instance they ask for 1,000GBP as well, don't think I'll bother.

Remember it is only the DRAFT that has been passed! Looks like they are trying to fall in line with EU before EU falls on top of them! With - whatever is included in the DRAFT, that we have no idea of, and noted that BRS are very quiet and not yet claiming victory - it may just be a simple way of changing the timescales in each category to be fully compliant? But who would know in Cyprus anyway?

6 years with a work permit and the world is your oyster, you will be GIVEN a permanent residency permit - strange that, I always understood you could have one or the other but not both! So what happens at the start of the 7th year? No work permit now because you have permanent residency so is that no work either?

However, foreigners who have been resident in the TRNC for six years will be GIVEN other rights that will facilitate their lives? Makes you wonder what the other rights will be (front of the que at immigration, 10 year driving license, Kocan's (sorry that one is a joke), permission to park anywhere, legal under taking, permission to work without a permit) - sounds like a plan to me. As we know, no plan withstands first contact!!!!!!

Anyway, why worry, it will be years before they get around to passing it - unless...................................

Arrive at the FUP, advance to SP - oops, change of plan as soon as the crossing is made. The TRNC Government does not want expats here, just the money they spend. Sort out the property scandal, before you talk about residency!
