For those interested this programme is about scams where someone rings up pretending either your computer has something wrong or in this case, Talk Talk phone company, where someone is trying to scam money. The person involved taped the conversation and could very easily given his details away.

If you know anyone in UK(your family or friends) that still don't realise that giving personal details to someone over the phone could cause them problems, then a gentle reminder to them of what can happen. I have to remind my mother many times about engaging in conversation with people she doesn't know.

Reminds me of a time I was called by a UK Gov agency.

I answered the phone and they said who they were and was I in?

I replied "yes."

They said "I just need to take you through a short security check."

I replied "you just called me and so I am not divulging any security information. I actually need to take you through a security check for both your and my protection, the call may be recorded for verification or training purposes."

The person on the other end said "what do you mean? I am from xxxxxxxxx, a Government agency".

I replied "yes, but you called me, you could be anyone, isn't that why you check identities when people called you."

That was basically the end of the conversation.
