Girne muhtar

I have to renew my residency soon and need the muhtar letter. I think there is more than one muhtar for Girne. Does it matter which one I go to? I only know of the one near the Wednesday market in the driving school.

I think that Girne has 5 Muhtar and you are supposed to go to the one that is responsible for the area in which you live. However things can change. 10 years ago I went to a Girne Muhtar and lived in Alsancak - the wife of the then Alsancak Muhtar couldn't get him to wake up!!

Thanks Sophie. I live near Ezic on the new bypass road. Does anyone know which muhtar is responsible for this area and where to find him?

opposite the main post office in Girne there is a small cafe, the Muktar sits on the pavement out side he will stamp your papers for a small charge.
