Hi
I'm interested in bringing a mobile home over from UK. They are also called static caravans.
Please send me a private message. Ideal for someone who is planing on driving over.

Most of these I know are very long and require a 12 metre trailer to transport - no mean feat with all the different countries and regulations!

Can't you just put a set of wheels on them and tow them?
They have a chassis as far as I know.

They usually also have wheels, but no suspension; the wheels are the minimalist version to enable final positioning once on site, while the chassis is the minimum required to provide rigidity when being lived in - I doubt whether wheels and chassis would be up to being towed at over walking speed on even the best/smoothest road surface....

Just an observation, I worked in the office of a mobile home site many years ago & they were all moved via trailers if it is any help

Having driven here from the Uk I would wish anyone who treis this the best of luck! Since the only way to access the island by vehicle is from Taşucu in Turkey, I would check that they would accept to transport the mobile home on their clapped out decommissioned 1950s Mersey ferries. It's a nigjhtmare trip at the best of times!
Be sure to look into the insurance aspect first too, as that can be problematic.

Oh well. I guess I'll have to go for a caravan then. I need something to live in on site while I'm building my house you see.

Going through the crossing point in Magusa there is a lovely brand new wooden cabin on the side of the road. I think it has been put there to attract folks attention..I bet that would be far cheaper than buying and transporting a mobile oven from UK...

You could get the static shipped over I suppose; fill it full of all your furniture, crockery etc.
Alternatively why not price up just renting an apartment somewhere nearby for the duration of the build.

I agree with Chris you are probably better off renting, the cost of buying and shipping a static will be huge. Also they are freezing in the winter and baking hot in the summer and what will you do about services, water, sewage and electrics?

And what do you do with it once you've finished with it?

The 38 ft static mobile home I have in Dorset weighs nearly 6 tons, not easy to tow by car I imagine.
Some of them are very well insulated, don't forget people live in them all year round in UK.

The wooden cabin sounds like a good idea. I bet they want an arm n a leg though.
I found a caravan, asking price was 4000 pounds. The same one only 1500 pounds in UK!!!
Renting is a little out of my budget. I plan on the build taking roughly a year. So thats way more than a caravan
Plus Id rather be on sight as I am undertaking the build myself.
Or I may opt to build some sort of temporary shelter.

Cheaper to build a simple frame building out of chipboard (pressed board) and give it a coat of paint! If it only has to last a year it would be a good temporary shelter - OR - get the builder to build your garage first, then live in there?
