Will a chromecast stream live TV from BBC iPlayer & ITV player via ipad? I'm in UK just now thinking of bringing one out!

You might like to consider getting an android media box instead, albeit it will probably cost you a bit more than Chromecast. I've found that mirroring can be a bit juddery, goes out of sync or freezes altogether at times, and can be downright frustrating.

Hope this helps, even with a Multimax connection or a separate VPN the chromecast will pick up that you are outside the UK. the CC screen mirroring will send downloaded BBC picture and audio to your TV but for me this has been at best unwatchable. I do however know there is a way to alter your router settings to make the Chromecast work here and I am going to give this a try tomorrow and will let you know. That is if I still have an internet connection after messing with the router settings.

Sorry mimi 2. After much effort and discussions with my VPN provider, can only mirror my screen to TV, this is an improvement but not what I expected. The BBC chromecast app does not work though downloading from BBC and then mirroring screen is kind of ok. Multimax may be able to help you amend your router settings, I might try them myself.

Thanks for updating re your experience Desih, and confirming that it wasn't just me who had problems. Luckily, I hadn't bought a Chromecast, but had a visitor who had one, bring it out to try out. I then tried out Apple TV, which can be a bit hit and miss here working, sometimes it works well, other times it pixellates and audio goes out of sync, so I wouldn't recommend that either to Mimi2.
Other option is to plug your iPad into the tv with
http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/MD ... av-adapter you will also need an HDMI cable (this is assuming that your tv has HDMI). I didn't fancy going down this route.
The best option for me was to buy an android media box, and download apps whilst in the UK. (You can do it here, just easier in the UK). The other advantage is that I can plug an an external hard drive into the media box, to watch content that I have already downloaded on the tv, rather than on a laptop.
