Car Prices

Hello...I was just wondering........ I am aware of how the asking price for pre-owned properties in TRNC is much higher than that which is usually paid (often by 20% or more?). Is it the same for car prices such as those advertised on
http://www.kktcarabam.com/ etc?

The price advertised is the price the person 'hopes' to get, up to the buyer to negotiate or for either to walk away.

Hi when we bought ours it was approximately 15% but that was a hard banter.
I really don't understand why most companies don't actually put any price on a car...I know I'm not the only one, but I will not even ask or entertain the companies that won't put a price on cars.
Maybe a car dealer will explain why you do this...

15%...OK so to get to that you probably started at 25-30% less than the asking price? I'm looking at online prices at the moment....car prices seem much lower than a few years ago!

Are you looking to purchase a particular car?

Muzer - is it not that the price depends who you are, ie there is a cypriot price and a different brit price?

I think, rather, that there is a tendency for 'Brits' to pay the asking price, whereas Locals will fight tooth and nail for the 'Best price'

Not at the moment but maybe later this year. Looking at a variety at the moment: Ford Focus Hatchback (C - Max if possible), Hyundai Matrix, Suzuki SX4, Opel Meriva...and anything similar.

Their website is hopelessly out of date - they don't still have half the cars listed and the English side hardly works at all... I've told them there is a problem but they don't seem to be too bothered...

It's located at
http://www.kktcarabam.com - It's a website!
Contact details of individual sellers are given at the right-hand side of each car's page, under the heading 'İletişim Bilgileri'...

kktcarabam is a generic show room that lists all cars that are for sale in all sorts of different show rooms, back streets and places of interest. It is used by dealers and sellers of vehicles to sell their wares across the internet - or more exactly to allow potential customers to see what they have to offer. If you go into that web site and click on a car you fancy you will also be able to find out who/which dealer is selling it and more often than not be able to contact them. It is useful for "trending" car prices, just don't believe everything you see and read - go to them and have a good look before you get your hopes up. It is not just the dealers that ask for silly prices and expect to be knocked down, expats do just the same thing and remember when you buy a used vehicle that is what you get! Everything - apart from the very odd dealer - is sold as seen so don't expect any great backup after you have purchased.
In answer to another query above, yes, car prices are starting to fall a little and there are bargains to be had. There are lots of Jap motors for sale with zero Km on the clock that are actually 2 to 3 years old when you get them - ask why??? Not everything is as you would expect. Good luck.
