Pegasus - Named as 3rd worst airline according to Skytrax
Flown with them a couple of times.
After the second time decided that despite there sometimes competitive price offerings the overall experience was poor.

Interesting to look at the whole list of 15 worst.....as you may expect Ryanair and Easyjet feature
When flying into Ercan its Turkish for us....or when flying into Larnaca its Norwegian Air

We live quite close to Stansted and use Pegasus every time we visit TRNC and we have never had one complaint or problem with them. In fact when we had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances they returned all our money within days, unexpected because we had booked the no change flight option.

Have to say I concur with Paul.
We have flown Pegasus for years, with no issues at all.
We were delayed out of STN once due to the inbound being late due to weather, but we were given ample food vouchers and left roughly when they said the new time would be.
They did loose a kids buggy years ago when we flew into STN but it was traced whilst we were still in the airport, was taken of in Istanbul in error, and was delivered to the house the next day.

I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, worst flying experience ever. Flight staff looked as miserable as sin, food was lousy, service worse than lousy. Didn't get seats we booked and paid for, no refund. And then they cancelled our return flight so we had to cut our holiday short by one week to get a flight home. And we'd looked forward to that holiday for eight years to spend time with family and friends. Never again. Pathetic.
Do your best to grow old disgracefully.

Nor me. They put what were presumably "friends and family" in our seats and made us stand at the front of the aircraft until we could see how many seats there were left. No doubt if the plane had been full we would have been offloaded.MoBry wrote:I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, worst flying experience ever. They demanded to see our boarding cards, but wouldn't ask the people in our seats (Cypriots) for theirs. Of course not, as they wouldn't have had any.
No courtesy, no apologies, what a shower!

Used them a lot in the past but never again. They are sometimes actually more expensive than Turkish Airlines, and come nowhere close. It annoys me that we are travelling from TRNC which uses the Lira, touch down in Turkey which uses the Lira, and land in UK which uses Sterling, so quite why they price everything in euros I don't understand.....actually yes, I do, so they can rip you off with the exchange rate if you have no euros, or, if you happen to have euros and need change, invariably they give it in Lira........which they rip you off again with a rubbish exchange rate.....unbelieveable!!!

Re: Pegasus - Named as 3rd worst airline according to Skytra
On a flight back from Antalya we were delayed for 30 hours back in November after a PGS plane burst a tyre at Ercan. We were left hanging around the airport for several hours with no food or drink and eventually bussed to an overnight stay in a grotty airport hotel. The following day we were flown to Izmir (!!), left to twiddle our thumbs for seven hours and eventually flown back at Ercan 30 hours late. We have claimed compensation but have been told the original flight was cancelled for 'air traffic control reasons' - a complete lie - and we will receive nothing.
We will never fly with them again.

I am surprised they ranked that highly. I will never use them again where there is an alternative.

Well you can only speak as you find and we have only ever had an hours delay and next years flights were £142 Stansted to Ercan, return. If you want first class service then perhaps you have to pay an awful lot more, but I'm happy with what we get and have been for quite some time at least twice a year.

Re: Pegasus - Named as 3rd worst airline according to Skytra
Just booked Norwegian Air, Larnaca to Gatwick mid Oct 2016 for two people. Total cost £76.80. Good budget airline. OK no hold luggage included but can add later if we need it....probably not. No food....no problem. Pay extra to reserve seat or arrive early at airport. Very good feedback from those who use them. Booking well in advance does work.
Service is important to us and on Pegasus for us is often hit and miss. On flights we have used with them it was often chaos on the stopover in Turkey....usually when passengers disembark or board....seat allocation always a problem. Cabin crew often appeared disinterested or at times surly. All in all not very pleasant.
Turkish also do good deals for advance bookings plus price includes hold luggage, meals and also drinks.

Defending Pegasus. I write, not as a Moderator here, but as lil ol' me.
I have never had any problems with Pegasus (but often did with CTA!- LONG GONE). I find them cheap, cheerful, and they now have a system of three different prices depending on what you want (also offers a no luggage cheapie). Who needs food on a short haul and if you do, it is O.K. Cup of coffee and some nut,s or maybe a wrap. I always pay the extra for leg room and the seat of my choosing. Nev er run up against any problems. Alan as being somewhat handicapped has been helped to a point of perfection. No arguments there. So, yes, I am all for Pegasus - it serves me well and I am happy being loyal to my host country. It is true I don't fly often, but whether to U.K. or Italy, I found the tickets affordable, the service good and staff kind and helpful. No probs.
But, another reason I find Ercan acceptable is because I can take my own car there and leave it for a small fee and know it is safe (unlike Larnaca or Paphos). I don't have to pay out a huge sum of money for a taxi which would put the fare into 'luxury' class as far as I am concerned, and it takes me about an hour to Ercan whilst Larnaca can take two or more.
Yes, I admit if I had money to spare I would go first class with Turkish! But not this week.
BUT THE ONE IMPORTANT THING IS THAT THE REPORT WHICH IS QUOTED AS MAKING PEGASUS THE THIRD WORST WAS A YEAR AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So maybe things are different now.

Their on time performance drops year on year and has done since 2010.
When they loose your luggage you have to g to the airport to collect it, on threat of being charged for storage.
They have a habit of not having change when you buy things on board.
Takes 18 months to be compensated for a 18 hour delay and then only when the CAA get involved.
Extra leg room seats at the front actually give you less legroom.
They charge extra for sports equipment even when you are under your baggage allowance.

Marion...........its horses for courses and all about opinions.
Whilst the report may be a year old, I am not convinced that they have improved.
It was not a horrendous experience for us with Pegasus, more like compared with all the options we have used in the past and after a few flights with them we found that they were the worst customer experience.
Initially we were attracted by the reasonable charges but weighing everything up, coupled with the fact Stansted is also a pain for us to get to we just decided it was not worth it. However, for my old Dad who lives in Cambridgeshire, Stansted was perfect plus of course not having to change aircraft in Istanbul was a bonus for him when he came out to visit us.
I only takes one bad experience and that can put you off ever using a service forever.

We use Pegasus at least three times a year and have done for some years now and can only say from personal experience that we have been more than happy with their overall service, we have had the usual 1hr delay at Stansted on the way out but that's not the end of the world. We do also pay extra for the for the leg room seats at the front and again can only go on our own experience but have been more than happy with our choice of seats.
We always book early so get the best price possible and so for what we pay we are more than happy with the service they provide.

Had nothing really disastrous but at the same time very annoying i.e. Ladies having insufficient change on the trolley, her calculator didn't work, so scribbling in pieces of paper trying to convert Euro to Lira and most times getting in wrong. Took over half an hour to serve first two rows. Not answering the bell, making a couple sit separately when they booked two together in advance because it would have meant splitting up two men in suits who handed booked in advance. The longest wait at Stansted was an hour because of missing their slot due to waiting longer than necessary for another man in suit and briefcase who got off in Istanbul.

Jimm if you can do Luton have a look at Atlasjet too.jimm wrote:Delays every time at Stansted, lost our prepaid seats a couple of times without any refund, we are now looking at Turkish Air via Amsterdam.
On the time I had a big delay due to the pilot having a "tail strike" I spent the whole day at Stansted, was then put up in a hotel B & B but no breakfast as we had to be at the airport for 6am. They gave ma a voucher at the airport for breakfast but told me it was worthless as I had to go straight to the gate.
It's Ok saying look at the small print (anyone with an I phone should see how long the Apple one is) but say you do check the small print. According to Pegasus your checked baggage should contain clothes. From PGS " The contents of the baggage should comprise clothes." So going on holiday is now not don't forget your toothbrush but forget your toothbrush!

That is all very well till you arrive at the airport with 16kgs of luggage and they want $45 dollars extra because you have a mask, snorkel and fins (AKA Flippers) in it!Deniz1 wrote:I dont care about food drinks etc take a sandwich if you cant last out all I care about is safety.
As for safety the only flight I have ever been on where they have had a tail strike on take off--Pegasus!

Re: Pegasus - Named as 3rd worst airline according to Skytra
I returned last night from the UK with Pegasus. The cabin staff had charisma bypasses the facilities were not pleasant to use and the seats were pretty crammed together.
All in all it was very similar to the old CTA we used to use.
I was not too disappointed as it was what I was expecting!
We usually fly with Turkish Airlines which, in my humble opinion, is a much nicer way to travel.
We all have to make our choices based on the criteria we need to fulfil, be it price, timings, airport choice, comfort or whatever takes your fancy and we all know a budget airline is going to be poor in comparison to a national one, so why the negativity? You pay the money and make your choice as best you can!
Flying again in January, different criteria, so travelling with THY.

Agree with everything you said |Gav.!!!!! Pegasus don't do smiling!!!! The food !!!!!! Well not good and an arm and a leg!!!!! Turkish Airlines for me when it fits in with my travel dates and times. Fab food, smiling people But, only good thing, you don't have to get off at Istanbul with Pegasus. So it's a decision thing when you have to book flites. Agreed, Pegasus are a wee bit like the old CTA. Like, no smiling, crap food etc.!!!! Hopefully I can continue to go between Pegasus and Turkish Airlines. Hope you have a good nite at Courtyard !!!!! And hope to see you and Bazza in New Year!!!!! April??!! You are both totally brilliant and me and my friends luv you. Talent doesn't cum easy and you and Bazza have got it in droves. xxxxx

Probably wouldn't use Pegasus *mostly because of dreadful on board staff" but if you can be in central Cambridge and be sipping a G and T within 45mins of landing (assuming no carousel problems) flying to Stansted its a no brainer.

It's a brainer, go Atlas to Luton, it will only take an extra 15mins! You will probably make that up on Pgs's ever decreasing on time percentage! Even the British Railways can do better than that!sophie wrote:Probably wouldn't use Pegasus *mostly because of dreadful on board staff" but if you can be in central Cambridge and be sipping a G and T within 45mins of landing (assuming no carousel problems) flying to Stansted its a no brainer.

Re: Pegasus - Named as 3rd worst airline according to Skytra
I've flown with Pegasus twice, and they were absolutely fine. Last time was in November, flight was on time leaving Ercan, the meals we ordered in advance were good quality for air meals, and the seats were better than on some budget airlines.
The only 'niggle' I had was the 'plane. They use Boeing 737s, which are a bit dated, and have very narrow aisles. I prefer the Airbus A320 which I feel is a better aircraft for this type of journey.
As for the pricing, I think they price in Euros because people compare them with Larnaca flights, but its only a drop down button on the website to change the pricing to TL or Sterling.

I think people do not like the fact that they charge for items on the flight in euros and if you present them with same you get change in TL or worse still you get a very poor exchange rate if you offer TL or sterling.....all far to complicated.

Or when you do not get your change as they have none then the crew changes and they know nothing about it. They had a reputation for this, it is just another way of skimming for the staff.PoshinDevon wrote:MoonageDaydream wrote:I've flown with Pegasus twice, and they were absolutely fine. Re: Pegasus - Named as 3rd worst airline according to Skytra
Unfortunately had to fly back with pegasus from London. I had said never with them again. However I did! My husband paid extra to give me a better package of extra leg room, meal included and extra luggage allowance.. we were over an hour late take off, then settled into my seat, middle seat was empty, then after take off the scruffy looking staff allowed a huge guy who had not paid the extra to sit next to me . He promply fell asleep snoring very loudly, his legs splayed out as did his arms and I only had half the seat I had paid extra for. I really hate this scruffy staff and smelly toilet airline, who seem to grab every extra baggage penny they can.
