I have the exact same model, make, engine size as my neighbours vehicle and yet my road tax is double Hes.The only difference appears to be they have the model on the log book as an estate rather than saloon.Has anyone else had a similar issue.Im heading down to Nicosia next week to hopefully sort it out.I know know the vehicle licensing dept is not far from Immigration but could anyone please help me out with directions.Thanks.

It does depend on the date the vehicle was first registered here as after 3 years the tax reduces so maybe your car was imported more recently?

The previous owner imported the car from the UK.Thats a good point and I didn't know about the three year deal.I guess I will have to go to Lefkosia and try and get an answer.I don't suppose you know where the vehicle dept in Lefkosia?Ive been there but can't quite remember how to get there from the immigration place.Thanks.

I believe that if you have any road traffic offences, the tax is increased, but I may be wrong.

If you walk across the main car park with Immigration office to your rear, the office you want is the flat roofed building facing you. Alternatively you can walk out of the Lefkosa Merit Hotel and its just a little way down the road opposite the hotel on the left. Its immediately behind an Alpet petrol station.
