Heating a flat

Can anyone advise me on the best way to Heat a small apartment. I have always had a wood fire so not too sure on the best and most economic way to go. Thanks

I am no expert by any means, but I would look at the cost of running a couple of 'inverter' AC units.

We find cheapest. & most efficient is to use the aircon

I agree that Inverter Aircon is the way to go-since I switched from the non Inverter type my electric bill has dropped by nearly40%

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately our landlord will not install ac in our apartment as we have not taken the furniture package. Any other ideas as really do not want a large electric bill. Thanks

A gas fire and a couple of halogen heaters. That's plenty. Depends how small or big your flat is I suppose,also depends on if you like putting thick layers on at funny times of the day and if the sun is shinning,the Aircon inverter is the way to go though,you could buy one of those portable ones like the restaurants have, good luck don't forget you only need heat for approximately 3 months

Depending how long you plan to be there, might be worth your while meeting him half way with the cost of a unit, benefits him, and you.

We've always used a gas fire - portable, cheap to run, works a treat. Our main lounge is big but the heater is very effective.

Be careful with gas fire, particularly if turned full on. We have a carbon monoxide detector which went off last year. We now stick mainly to the AC and only use the gas fire for background heat and turn it down after the room warms up. Condensation can also be a problem with a gas fire.

Agree with all those people who recommend the use of inverter a/c units.
We have been supplying and fitting them for some time and the electricity savings are very good.
They do cost more than non-inverter to buy but they are much cheaper to run.

The aircon in our apartment is poor when used as a heater, and it costs a lot to run.
We bought a bottle gas heater and find this very efficient, portable and cheap to run.
Ours came form Plus, but most large 'yapis' have them, and Carrefour in the south were selling some for just 69 Euros today (regulator is extra).
