New Starlux Cinema: Excellent!

My family and I visited the new Starlux Cinema Complex in Karaoğlanoğlu today to watch the new Star Wars film in 3D.

It was excellent.

The sound and projection were first class - on a really good sized screen. The seating is large and capacious with masses of leg-room and a good rake meaning no-one's view can be obstructed - despite the generous seat-backs.

The venue is spotless, well-appointed and has very good climate-control.

All round a ten-out-of-ten.

It's on the main road in Karaoğlanoğlu; on the right-hand side if coming from Girne.

It was TL24 for adults and TL19 for children in the Jupiter theatre. The VIP room may be different.

They have different showings: some with Turkish subtitles and some with Turkish dubbing.

We were quoted 52 lira for us both in the VIP room. The cost of sofas is so far in advance of the others!

Super place, but for us Lefkosia is better at 16tl each. Fopr families and locals with good mobility then Karaoglanoglyu is a godsend.

We went on the first day of Star Wars release,it's a great cinema ,better than anything in the uk I've been too, seats where amazballs, really comfy and a little wee wee break halfway through,48tl,or just over £5 each is fantastic,I'll definitely be using it again. And the website is great to see what's on and what times.

Thanks for the information been waiting for someone to post comments on this cinema as we are thinking of going this week and a good price for such a plush looking place.
It's always the same on here which is a shame when someone writes a lovely comment about a business that has cost a fortune only to be spoilt by someone mentioning the opposition in lefkosia and by the time you have driven there you have saved nothing, give the place a chance please.
Good luck to Starlux hope it goes well.

It is a pity that people mention the opposition - you say. The mention of Lefkosia is NOT the opposition, but for us more c onvenient, (and might be for others) even if the geography is not.

I did say it is a super place for families, and forgive me if I sound rude, but do please consider that we are NOT all the same. As I mentioned on another thread - it is a super place and we did try to go there. but...........

As most people know my husband's mob ility is not what he would like. At this new super cinema there are steps up the back from the carpark, which are difficult for him. There is no lift. The restaurant is on another floor - again with no lifts, and the super plush seats which are more expensive are such that he cannot heave himself out of it.
At Lefkosia the parking is in the basement with a lift to each floor. The cinema have spaces for wheelchairs (which as yet, thank hgeavens we don't have to use , but....) The toilets have great facilities for the handicapped. There are no stairs anywhere fo rmy husband to climb, and on an evne more personal note, my dog can stay happily in the car in the basement with the windows down and if it should rain, she stays dry as does the inside of the car.

Sorry for giving this long explanaiton, but I would ask that fellow kibkomers just MIGHT have a thought as to why anyone such as I mention the 'opposition'. It is not opposition, but a different facility of a different ilk.

Poor old Lemar at Karaoglanoglu m,ust be facing the 'opposition' of this super new family place. Just wish I had a family here to enjoy all that the new place offers.

End of rant!

(Just one other thing which I find personally 'disturbing' on this Forum is that everyone knows who I am (even if not personally) as my name and pic ture are given. But I have no idea whatsoever as to who some of you are - no name, no picture - and so very difficult tojudge how you write or what your personality is.)

I thought this was the reason, as stated by you in the other posting, you did not stay.

"Turned out this is in thge VIP lounge and the cost for two tickets was 58tl. Mr Tight Wadder felt he did not want to spend that."

Why is it so "disturbing on this forum" most forums have people you will never meet or know. Just has to be one of life's mysteries. The jobs you have chosen to do puts you in the limelight, your choice....the rough goes with the smooth when exchanging opinions.

The island is full of nutterz

Great cinema and place to use and some 1 trying to bring this place into the 21st century.

Good luck to them and let's hope we get lots of new life pumped into the north in the not too distant future

The place currently reminds me of the film cocoon
