I have a Briggs and Stratton generator. Serviced last year, I start it about every two weeks to keep it turning over. Tried today it just keeps kicking back, cannot get it going at all. Any suggestions would be gratefully received cheers.

What do you mean by kicking back ?.... is the pull cord snatching out of your hand ?

When I pull the cord it moves two thirds but then "kicks back" on the last third, not enough to actually pull it out of my hand. Must have tried it thirty times, always the same. Nothing on Google except possibly a timing problem?

The snapping back shouldn't be a problem, its probably a bit too much compression.
If you have pulled it that many times then its either the spark plug or coil or maybe stale petrol (petrol these days start to deteriate the moment you buy it) so its not good to keep petrol for longer than a couple of months.
I would try the plug first as it sounds like its not firing ?

Try giving it a pull with the plug out dry and clean the spark plug ,you should be able to check if the plugs sparking ok if you hold it against the body of the engine at the same time.

Thank you for your suggestions, will try again today, with winter on its way and the prospect of power cuts its a no brainer to keep it going.
