Still no Title deeds
In September we at last managed to split our land. This has been a long and tortuous process with boundary problems, fighting residents who can't or won't pay their tax, compounded by the fact that the plots had several different types of title. This battle has taken over twelve years, and has cost us all many thousands of pounds. The Land office in Girne smile sweetly while they count out the dosh, and tell us to come back in a couple of weeks for the new deeds. These will be the final documents which includes all the buildings etc. However we are still being denied our deeds, the excuses are endless. Just how long does it take to write out five title deeds? I have heard a rumour that suggests the land office have been told to hold back on issuing title deeds whilst the negotiations between the two sides are on going. I'm beginning to despair as I suspect without our deeds we will be truly stuffed in the event of any settlement.

Do not despair.
It normally takes the land registry office 2 months or longer to write out the deeds but your receipt should be sufficient to give you proof of ownership.
I doubt there is a deliberate attempt to with hold the transfer its just the usual burocracy and delays.

Art is right once you have paid the taxes & got the receipt you are home & dry - congratulations! Of course with the New Year holiday that will be at least another 3 weeks delay.

You should think yourself very lucky indeed. After 11 years we cannot become parcelated because of a boundary dispute, consequently we will NEVER received our Title Deeds. I suspect there are more people like us than people like you, who at least can see the end of the tunnel.

Jimm
6 months is a long time even by TRNC standards.
Has the builder/developer paid their tax?
The deeds will not be issued if they haven't .
If they have I suggest you arrange to meet the manager at LR to establish what's holding up the transfer.
Just a thought.

Are you sure ?,.... what happens in a settlement and "other" arrangements are brought in?... I think most North Cyprus buyers are far from home and dry at the moment.

Re: Still no Title deeds
My comments refer to the situation as it is today .
Under a settlement agreement the situation could well be different but there hasn't been a settlement so those fortunate to have their deeds or are waiting for the land registry to write them up,legally own their property.
Who knows what could happen under a settlement agreement.

Good there 'eh.
We paid for a property in full in 2008, never got to move in. The Judge bankrupted the site and we lost all our dosh. Title deeds were promised but we never stood a chance. Its not what you know, its who you know.
