I'm making a small extension, fitting a slightly sloping roof (wood & chipboard ) and am having trouble sourcing the supplies to fix the main beams. I intended to use expanding bolts, but haven't found any long enough to line up and fit. Am now considering joist hangers, but they don't seem to stock them in my usual DIY stores. Any one know if they're stocked/ used here and where I could get them?? Starting to wish I hadn't started now! Thanks folks

Thanks, but went there first. Nothing suitable for a block wall, and bolts all too small. No joist hangers

Leroy Merlin near IKEA in the south is a huge DIY store;they should have what you require.

Yes, perhaps a trip to the south required..... Or a simpler flat roof, hahaha!

If it's just a timber wall plate you need fixing to a block wall, what about masonary fixings (screws). You don't need a plug or chemicals. You just drill a 6mm hole and screw straight in. You will have to buy a torx screw bit for your drill driver. They come in lengths up to 150mm.

Most yapis sell them. Sparks (Izzy) sells them for sure in Karsiyaka
They are a very strong fixing if fitted correctly.

Thanks very much for the advice. I had discounted the screws as they didn't seem strong enough on a block wall without plugs, but I think I'll bow to better judgement and give them a go!

Pretty sure I've seeen them in Izzys in Karsiyaka
