We seem to have lost some of the pressure on our water pump. Is it the pump or the pump controller
Or both? Thanks

It could be either of those, or something else entirely, such as a filter clogged with debris / lime-scale, or an airlock for instance.

I would advise that you ask your neighbours to recommend someone experienced to investigate!

Very unlikely to be a pump fault unless you have a big leak on the pump. Maybe an issue with the water supply to the pump especially if you are pulling from an underground tank. The pressure controllers normally have a pressure gauge fitted which should indicate a working pressure of around 2 bar. These controllers tend to be very reliable and either work OK or fail completely.

It is also worth checking / cleaning the flow straightness on the outflow of your taps. These are regularly described as filter which they are not. They get blocked up, but can easily be removed and cleaned. They are located just where the water leaves the tap. It's posible most time to remove them by hand but may need a wrench to remove. They normally have two flat surfaces either side of the nuts for a wrench to fit. If the flow pattern is OK without the strainer just leave it out. Another source of problem is the isolation valves on the hot and cold supply to the taps. Small holes easily get blocked up.

Gates, I'm sure that if the neighbours have any experience of your work, then you would be at the top of the list of recommendations!

My advice was intended to lean towards 'personal recommendations' from satisfied customers, with which I'm sure that you wouldn't disagree, as although the neighbours may not know anything about plumbing, they might be well aware of tradesmen who do a good job, offering value for money, and also those who are 'rip-off' merchants.
