Found thiswebsite via North Cyprus Free Press:

I wondered how long it would take for the protests to come. I have to say one cannot be but impressed with the efficiency of these people.

Should speed the talk on no end!!!!

Seem to also be quite talented on photoshop!!!

Well there is some truth in what they say and also some exaggeration, funny thing is though that the Mayor of London (our Boris) has Turkish ancestry, probably a waste of time writing to him. It's odd that the bus doesn't advertise it as "The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" so as to distance itself from The Republic of Cyprus.

You can't say TRNC because it doe s not exist in the eyes of most of the known world, but North Cyprus certainly does. There is a discussion on Facebook about this, and maybe it is time for c ivilised people to write to the Mayor of London and London Transport syaing how good it is to see advertisements of an affordable, relatively untouched spot on our globe for a holiday. Hopefully this might counter some of the nasty offensive literature which could go their way. A template is given on the lobby for Cyprus, (of a somewhat nasty kind) .

After all it is said 'a soft answer turns away wrath' and if civilised oflk can write a civilised letter it might help others see that the north is not full of barbaric occupiers who (in the words of some) eat babies for breakfast.

Whilst I love living here, it is not a tourist paradise. The endemic proliferation of litter, continued high-risk building programme, fly-tipping of builder's rubble etc all contribute to the GC propaganda against the TRNC as a tourist haven.

The scary thing about this is it is so professional - not the usual illiterate drivel that is so obviously prejudiced propaganda! And someone has taken a lot of trouble over the names and addresses. Looks as if a PR firm is involved.

Unfortunately Turkish Cypriots have never been good at PR. They know they are right and see no need to prove it! And it is a bit much to claim North Cyprus is unspoiled - part of it are and unforunately they are the parts tourists will see. Tragically it seems the tourist ad campaign might boomerang.

Not so long ago the south was labelled as 'paradise' and unspoiled, and someone I know called it 'Little Lebanon' because of the building rubble, and the awful litter. So maybe there is not such a difference between north and south.

Actually I think the authors of this propaganda might just have shot their own tourist industry in the foot. If I were your average Brit tourist with no knowledge of the history of the Island (and that in itself is frightening) and maybe already unsettled by terrorism and the use of British bases in the South, seeing all that still apparently going on on the doorstep , I might just write off the whole Island as a holiday destination!

This is just a re.run of 2005 when Transport for London banned adverts for North Cyprus on the buses, saying some Greek Cypriots found them offensive. A case went to court and the High Court ruled that the TfL's decision was irrational and awarded costs to the North Cyprus Tourism Centre. A precedent has been set and so long as the advert is in no way political and is only advertising North Cyprus as a holiday destination I cannot see how this current campaign by Greek Cypriots will succeed. TfL will not want to get involved in another legal case surely?

It's all more of the 40+ years of 'cry for help' than anything. It shows just how much on the back foot the GC's have been and for so long.

Remember the comments after the Orhams? All of the "it's over", "We are coming to throw you all out" etc, etc comments on forums?. Obviously by the next day they must have all forgot.

The talks are falling apart, if not at the negotiation table but at any future referendum, and many GC's have seen for years that they will never get to return to the vast majority of the North areas. And, when kids can't have their own way, what do thy do, call names and try to break the other kids toys.

A very good friend of mine asked me how I saw things within his and his families lifetimes, and we chatted for a while, and concluded that most of something is better than all of nothing. He and his family went to the IPC and did quite nicely out of it.

Bottom line is, it was 'game over' a very long time ago, but the global powers still need to complete 'the motions' to satisfy the EU/UN etc. anf other parts of the global community.

Well maybe the suggested recipients of these 'objection letters', will swiftly realise, due to the fact they are all worded the same, that it is a template, and not the actual words or thoughts, necessarily, of the complainant. Once again a carefully orchestrated attempt to deny any form of progress for TRNC. I can imagine Boris sitting there saying to himself......'oh no, not the same letter again!' or words to that effect, after opening the 100th one......lol
