My son wants to buy my apartment, being TRNC what problems is this likely to throw at us.

It all depends on whether you have got the Koçan in your own name, and if so, whether it is a 'shared Koçan or not.

You don't appear to be Cypriot, so there is also the matter of 'Permission to Purchase' to think about, and whether there is any reason why your son might not be granted 'PTP', but again, without the details, no one can say...

Cheers Keith, yes the Kocan is in our name.

I can't think of any obstacles really.

All bills have to be up to date of course, and your son must apply for, and be granted 'PTP' before the Land Registry will effect the change to the Koçan. Your son will need a 'Police Report' from his local Police Force in the UK, or wherever he lives, and there are fees to be paid.

The procedures in the Tax Office & Land Registry are convoluted to say the least, and you would benefit from the assistance of someone experienced in the inner workings of these Offices, but there should be no need for an Avukat - locals never seem to use them for house purchases. A chap called Altan at 'Royal Estates' is familiar with the procedures and has helped and advised me (and others that I know) for a small fee - he actually left the fee to my discretion!
