Hi
Can anyone let me know info on whether or not dogs are placed into quarantine on entering Northern Cyprus. I have read that they do but been told that they don't.
Can anyone give me a first hand account of how easy or hard it is Please.
Many Thanks

Contact KAR for definitive, accurate and current information on the whole business involved.

Agreed. If you can't find a number on their web page - just ask and it will be given. Last I knew is that if you have a pet passport, then no quarantine. Also prior to that it was 'home quarantine' which still mayapply. But DO ask KAR or maybe someone will post on here from KAR.
It is certainly a HUGE improvement from the 'old days'.

We flew with our beagle May 2014 - absolutely no problems. KAR were incredibly helpful in dealing with the import business at the TRNC end. DEFRA deal with the UK end. In short - once you have the DEFRA paperwork sorted / UK vet checks (rabies) and KAR help with the import paperwork (both needed before travel) then it's simply a DEFRA rated vet check on the animal about 2 days before departure (fit to travel) and then meet up with the TRNC vet on arrival who will double check the paperwork.

No quarantine required for our hound (straight home with us) and Turkish Airlines were brilliant in transporting the dog.

Hope this helps.

We took 3 Shitzu's with us on Turkish Airlines from Manchester to Ercan August 2014. My wife took two in baggage and I took the other one in the cabin. For whatever reason we couldn't take all three on one flight. So my wife too the first with two and KAR did the paperwork for all. She was met at Ercan by a rep from KAR and a TRNC official (VET) who certified the paperwork. I flew later with the other dog and because it was late no rep or official met me although they had notified Ercan I was travelling. We had to keep them under house quarantine for 4 weeks, no one checked on us during that time or after the 4 weeks. It is my understanding now that there is no such quarantine?

Whilst here we have travelled through the border at Metehan by car and noticed a stray dog on the Turkish side who proceeded to walk through the checkpoint without any hassle to the Greek side and back again. So if you have a well trained dog drop it off at one side and call it over to the other side....!

no we brought our Tibetan terrier over with pet air and so long as you have a address they do not need to be quarantined

That is really Bizarre, isn't it?

Of course wild animals and birds cross the Green Line at will, but I suppose that there has to be some sort of control, even if it can't control everything!
