THE Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble 2016, in conjunction with Telsim Vodafone are once again delighted to announce the use of 4171 to raise money for the EFRAR 2016.
The Telsim Vodafone number, 4171 allows people who are on a contract phone to send a blank text, which will cost them TL5. The money goes directly to Help Those With Cancer Association (Tulips) but for the period 3 February to 10 April 2016 the amount raised will be attributed to the Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble 2016 and will to be passed on to Tulips, along with the rest of the monies raised.
A Telsim Vodafone spokesperson said: “Telsim Vodafone will once again be running in support of cancer patients. We are always happy to support events which create awareness about health problems in Cyprus.

We, as the Telsim family, are very happy and excited to be a part of this social responsibility event. We appreciate the efforts of the Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble Committee and we invite everyone to support this important event.”

Art Watson, Chairman of the EFRAR 2016 committee, said: “This initiative can raise so much money for Tulips and TL5 is a small sum of money when one considers the cost of cancer treatments and I am confident, with your help, we can raise a good amount. The 4171 initiative is available to Telsim Vodafone and Turkcell contract subscribers so I urge everyone to send a blank text to 4171 and donate TL5”.
The following banks also accept donations to “Cancer Patients Aid Association” from pre-paid subscribers: Asbank, Creditwest, Iktisatbank, Koopbank, Cyprus Turkish Teachers Bank, Limasol Turkish Cooperative Bank, Sekerbank, Turkish Bank, Business Bank of Turkey, Foundations Bank, Universal Bank and the Near East Bank

Has Tulips changed its name to the 'Cancer Patients Aid Association' or is this just the bank account name?

I believe that is the direct translation from Turkish to English of the charity's actual name - Kanser Hastalarına Yardım Derneği

So far we have 18 sponsors, of which, 5 are banks. In no particular order, other than alphabetically, Capital Bank, CreditWest, Iktisatbank, Koop Esentepe and Limasol Bank. We hope to have two more sponsors on board soon.

If anyone wishes to sponsor the EFRAR 2016, in any way, please get in touch.

EFRAR 2016 takes place on Sunday, 10th April, starting and finishing at Magic Bar near Esentepe.

Reply to Msg 3: Well in that case it should be called that or Help Those With Cancer Association (of which I also found out from a friend that you can use this name also or KHYD).

I went into a bank to make a donation to "Cancer Patients Aid Association" and they looked at me like I was daft!

Google translate does not translate properly as so many of us have found out, at least the correct bank account name should be on here so that we can participate after all the original poster does want support.

Sorry to be direct but I very rarely post, I generally just read but this needs to be addressed.

You are absolutely right Bernie, and I will get this checked out with Help Those With Cancer Association (Tulips) but in the meantime, I hope this link helps.

I have just checked with the Association and the bank account NAME is: Kanser Hastalarına Yardım Derneği

Which is the Turkish name of the Association.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
