Just drove back from Lapta via Hotel strip what a mess along most of the road Tarmac very narrow quite dangerous if you have to go off it ,lots of large holes on the sides with no hazard tape round them not easy to see at night very dangerous I know health &safety does not exist here but surely a few rolls of tape don't cost a fortune it s an accident waiting to happen .I hope they fix it before the tourists start to arrive it looks a complete eyesore !

Sorry to say the whole island looks a mess.
The workers never seem capable of finishing a job or clearing up after them.
Esentepe is just full of unfinished work and is littered with builders rubble.
Such a great pity!

Lapta Municipality has just received the ISO-90012008 certificate for Quality Management Systems apparently, because of the works carried out for quality of service, ensuring customer satisfaction in the Lapta area.
I have yet to visit their offices toshow them the rubbish that is being dumped in the supposedly protected nature trails in the mountainsof Başpinar.
I'm not sure ifwe live on the same planet as these self-congratulating fools.

When we came her nearly 11 years ago, Lapta was considered a "beacon of light" to be looked up to. Water was the cheapest, it was probably the cleanest and tidiest etc, etc, but I'm glad we decided not to buy there now.

Walked the Lapta walk today a disgrace in places with litter and bottles, people walking dogs with no leads, 11 cyclists passed us, the signs clearly say no bikes or dogs, they were not locals either.

Don't forget, according to C2D, the Lapta Mayor has agreed to "mega-hotels" all along the Lapta coastline, so anyone who had lovely seascapes from their downstair terraces, can start to say bye-bye to them if all that lot goes to plan.

We live in Lapta and the place is a disgrace, it's filthy and unkempt, rubbish is dumped everywhere, why are some of the legions of belediyesi workers not out every day collecting litter and repairing roads and footpaths, and I don't mean one man working and four watching.
It's all well and good the Mayor puffing his chest out and telling us we're going to have this, that and the other pie in the sky ideas, just clean the damn place up, repair the roads etc, have some pride in the place.
Near to us some kind soul has decided to dump piles of broken sunbeds and such, just at the side of the road, we've reported it but as usual nothing has been done, I often wonder just what we pay our money for.

We just have to agree with all the posters although it hurts me to say it as we still have property in Esentepe, the place is going to rack and ruin.
We have recently moved to live in central Portugal and cannot believe the difference, fab road system, everywhere so clean, cheap to live, nobody ripping you off, cheap flights, wonderful scenery, rivers, beaches. Vineyards.
I wish we had done it far earlier as we can now see how expensive it had become to live in Cyprus!

Sad to say that the above statement is not too far from the truth in my opinion.

Well sadly must agree with all the above about the state of Lapta, I moved over 18 months ago although having been coming on holiday twice a year for eighteen years and sadly yes it has declined. I walked my two small dogs (on leads) last week on the stretch of coastline from Silver Rocks to the Lapta Strip and it was lovely and peaceful and my dogs enjoyed it. Went yesterday morning and it was horrendous.....beer cans everywhere, empty fast food cartons strewn all over, and the amount of broken bottles was unbelievable...........not safe to walk without treading thru it, spoke with a workman that was clearing shrubs and he was as disgusted as I was. As he pointed to all the rubbish and debris, his words to me were..................they come and party at the weekend, but don't take their rubbish back with them..............No Respect............. I must agree with him.
I won't be walking my dogs there again.
