The moon tonight.

Take a look at the moon as there is a strange thing happening. There are two rings around it, one being fairly close and the second some distance away.
Something I have never seen before.

Looks normal to me from here in lapta at around 00:20 ish ?
Did I miss it ?

Hi Erol, well it was certainly viewable up until 2200hrs but after that I would not know.

Rings can be caused by ice crystals in the
upper atmosphere - have a look
here or just search rings around moon on the internet.

Hi jofra, yep I did that and it was quite a fascinating read. Also it is supposed to indicate an imminent storm so will have to wait a couple of days to see if that is true.

In the days of HF communications it also meant that there would be good radio communications when there were rings around the moon!!!

The rings İ see are in proportion to the brandy(or raki) İ have had.
